Anyone in WI using IQ Academies?

We've decided that we're homeschooling our 15 y/o son next year (so tired of the bullying at his high school and lack of response from adminstration).

He has been traditionally schooled his entire academic career and also homeschooled/tutored in evenings and weekends. He's accustomed to working with his stepfather and myself - after all we taught him to read when his teachers couldn't/wouldn't (another separate rant).

Anyway....

He's wanting some connection to a school and doesn't seem ready to give up the identity of belonging to a school.

We've been exploring online charter schools and he's really taken a liking to the IQ Academies Charter.

I've watched the testimonial clips from current students and read all of the publicity materials they have and still wonder a few things.

We're planning to attend an open house tomorrow, but I was also hoping to maybe connect with a mothering family who might be using it or tried it in the past.

Some of my initial concerns are the lack of formal learning opportunities during summer months. IQ seems to follow a traditional school calendar.

One hope my son has is early graduation. He's already nearly a grade ahead of his peers in many classes.

Also - the online materials seem to stress creating a schedule and notifying his teachers if he won't have online access for several days. We don't mind structure, but don't want him to have to log in at a prescribed time daily.

One of the attractions of an online charter is flexibility and the opportunity for him to arrange study time when his biorhythms permit the most effective learning.

So...has anyone here tried it? What you think of it and how well did/does it work for your child/family?

Thanks!

this is just a thought.
Maybe you can enroll him in a vocational school part time?
He can take classes he really likes and is interested in. this could just a supplement to whatever else.
I grew up in WI. I did a program through the school district called home bound and they county actually pays for it and I met with a tutor.
Kind of like hs but not really.
