I want to know which one of you wonderful ladies created this website?

http://home.earthlink.net/%7Efetteroll/rejoycing/

I've been enjoying myself this morning just reading and nodding. Nothing better than reading what I agree with just with much better thought out words than I seem to come up with.

That IS a great site...added it to my favorites to read later.

That's Joyce Fetteroll's site. I don't think she posts here, but I'm pretty sure she's active on at least Unschooling Discussion (a Google group) and probably several others (I haven't been keeping up with unschooling lists like I used to). It is a nice site, isn't it?

Sandra Dodd has a page of her articles and such, as well: http://sandradodd.com/joycefetteroll

AHHHHH THANK YOU!! Between the peacefulness of Simon and Garfunkel playing in the cd, the children making a beautiful mess of chalk and construction paper and the joy of their creations and reading such well said responses to all that I've known in my spirit, but I'm so darn wordy I can't seem to get my point across...anyway, it's been a peaceful, lazy day and I'm enjoying her site immensely.

Does anyone have any contact info for her? I do web hosting and site design and wanted to offer to move her site over to a better service with a good URL (because she has put so much work into this and the information is really valuable!). Feel free to PM me if anyone has her e-mail...

Thanks!

Some of the "articles" are good but I have to disagree with this:

"People are not dropping dead of trans-fatty acids or artificial colors. Or maybe they are! ;-) but it isn't a sure thing like poison and it takes years and years and years. A few bags of Oreos or even a few dozen bags isn't going to kill them. If you let them make the choices they want while modeling the behavior you feel is right for yourself, the message will be there loud and clear."

I'm not about to let my kids eat Oreos or artificial colors just because they want to. They don't have all the information needed to make that decision or the self control to avoid eating toxic food that tastes good. I explain all about eating healthy foods but, honestly, I don't expect them to truly grasp that those yummy, sweet Oreos are killers! :

now I've got "Beauty School Dropout" in my mind...need to watch " Grease"

I haven't gotten all through her website yet, so haven't seen that point. I'm not what I would consider "radical", so I'm not about to allow my children free reign to Oreos and other unhealthy choices of food. I buy what we deem healthy and explain to our children why we make the choices we make.

When they go to friends houses for sleep overs or whatever that have "unhealthy choice foods" I simply let them know that other families make their own choices on foods. They either simply say "no thank you" to foods they know are unhealthy, or they will on their own limit how much they consume. I do warn the parents that my kids tend to react to artificial colors, flavors and refinded sugars and cow dairy, so they are aware of possible behavior health issues.
