The calls and inquiries have started

Is anyone else getting calls, emails, etc? I am feeling a bit inundated and the baby isn't even "due" for another week!

And this is just venting...I know people are trying to be helpful and keep me busy, but now that I have stopped working, I just kind of want to hang out and putter around my house while I still can... Yet friends (who mean well) and acquaintances are all trying to get together with me as if they will never see me again. It is hard to say no, but I dont really want to pack my calendar up with pre-baby visits -- I just want a few days of unscheduled me time. But I dont really know how to say NO! NO MORE!! STAY AWAY!!!!

Like I said, they mean well.
Guess I am getting into the grumpy, wanting-private-time stage of pregnancy. Thanks for letting me vent.

Sometimes I decide I just really don't like people. : I'm sorry folks are irritating you... I can forgive the couple of friends I have who don't have children but it's the ones who do that REALLY irritate me!! They oughtta know better!

I'm kind of a hermit these days as well but I've got a few friends who are understanding enough, and seeing them has helped me feel better. I hope you can get some peace and quiet!

Two words: Answering machine

Seriously, last pregnancy I completely stopped answering my phone (somewhere around my due date). It totally annoyed my family, but they got over it, and now they are joking about when I'm going to stop answering the phone this time around, too. I just got so tired of the "How are you doing? How is baby?".

This time, people just send emails... those I can ignore or answer as I wish

Alternatively, you can invite your well-meaning friends over to cook up food for your freezer and wash your dishes for you.

Heh, dd1 was 2+ weeks late, and due 1/1, and everyone wanted her there in time for xmas. I turned off all the ringers and the volume on the ans. machine down, and ignored emails from my mother too!

You can set your outgoing message to something like "the baby was born last week but we didn't want to tell you because we knew you'd call to bug us anyway" or something.

I get several calls a day now. Atleast 2-3. Often more.

I totally agree.....my aunt that hardly ever calls me has called me the last five days in a row. Jeez. I have been getting at least 4 calls a day. It doesn't help that on Sunday I'll be a week overdue. ugh.

OK, put this on your machine:

"Hello. We thought we would have this baby and just not tell a soul. Either leave a message or come to our house ready to clean it or cook! Bye!"

Yes the calls have started....Sigh. I think we are getting most of them because its a home birth and people are excited because its "different".
