My ds recently began eating solids. I didn't want to do it (was hoping to nurse exclusively for 9 months
), but he had all the "readiness" signs: sat up by himself, reached for food on my plate, etc. A woman at LLL suggested I give him a spoon because he might just want to put things in his mouth, but that only held him off for a few days. When I gave him the food, it was like a light went on. He grinned and laughed and was so pleased with the world! At any rate, I'm really curious about when other people started. My son was 2 weeks short of 6 months.

She still gets most of her nourishment from nursing. The other kids fell somewhere in between. I think it just depends on the child. Nursing is still SO important no matter when they start solids. Good luck!
