Plus size mamas support thread! - Page 3

Well, I spoke too soon... They don't have my size in MOST of the pants I want. So I've emailed them and inquired as to when they will be restocking! I sure hope it's soon!

Well, I went ahead and ordered some pants from LB maternity and they got here today! Of course, it turns out I'm smaller than I thought and they're all too big! I may keep one pair that I like better than the others.

GOOD NEWS is though, that they've restocked on jeans and added a bunch of spring/summer tops, too!! So now I have to decide what to order - again!

I'm definitely going to get a pair of the jeans NOW before they're gone. I think I like the half-panel pretty well. Comfy and secure enough now but still plenty of stretch. It's like a big, wide elastic band.

I also have tried on a pair of pants with a "full panel," and like I thought it's not the "all the way up to your chest" type of panel -much better than others. It also has no elastic at the top! So nothing to dig into your belly, just nice soft stretchy jersey. I remember all of my Motherhood pants having the huge panel and the 1" elastic that digs in and is rather uncomfy eventually. BUT the lack of it does mean that it doesn't fit as securely NOW.

So, there's my input on it! But they do all seem well made and I'm happy I can get some different stuff! (Oh, the knit gauchos were WAY big, even though I definitely ordered the "right" size.) Hope this helps!

Hehe, I tried a pair last time that were so comfortable - no elastic. They were great until I got them home and walked out in the yard and they fell down around my ankles! I can't for the life of me figure out how they were supposed to stay up!

I just got a coupon for Lane Bryant and it says if they don't have the size or style you want in the store to tell them and they will charge you and then ship them for free to your door!

I weighed about 230 when I got pregnant and I bought a very cute Liz Lange maternity swimsuit from Target in an XXL. It fit like a dream and was adorable. It was a black tankini--covered everything and looked just like a retro 1950s swimsuit.

i just heard that macy's is getting maternity...any idea if they will have plus size? I may have to email them.

I haven't left the house much, so my current clothes are o.k. but I will need some clothes soon.

Off to look around...

I gotta say that I am not to hopeful to see a plus-size maternity line at Macy's. Two years ago I came to the conclusion that the large national chains figured that fat girls shouldn't be having having sex and ending up pg!
All the stuff I saw was for size 2 basketball bellies!
I had to buy all my stuff off the internet...

What is the difference between the Lane Bryant website and the Lane Bryant Catalogue website? Are they the same company? They have cheeper stuff here (less selection):

Lane Bryant and Lane Bryant Catalog are completely separate companies. I've had things over the years from the Catalog and it's so-so. Cheap, but not great quality and honestly more suited for my mother than for me - at least back then! Not sure on how it came about that there are two such similar companies, but definitely not the same thing!

ETA: Why do they have a tiny model for their plus-size maternity clothes on the Catalog site? The clothes look humongous on her! But I can't tell if it's poorly designed clothes or a poor choice of model.

Yeah, I get their catalogues and that has always irked me about the models - I can't tell what it is going to look like. Biggest problem I've had with their clothes is that they are usually too long for me. But I haven't liked Lane Bryant the store either - their stuff has shrunk on me, leaving feeling very cheated since it is so expensive.

I was just looking at the JCPenney website, and they have extended sizes on some of their maternity stuff. I usually have trouble finding things I like in the store, but looks like the website carries it...

I would like a few tops that aren't T-shirts this time around. :-D

I felt the same way about lane bryant a few years ago but the last year or so I have loved the clothes as they have been much better quality. The lanebryant catalog stuff looks frumpy imo and better suited for someone much older.

Hey, mamas! I was looking at some of the "popping already" threads and feeling a bit sad - I *think* I'm popping a bit but it's so hard to tell! So I was just wondering how the other fluffier mamas are doing. Any obvious baby belly showing yet?

I do wish my figure was more accomodating to showing off pregnancy. I'm 12 weeks now with #3, so you'd think I'd be showing at least a little, right? And I do feel different. Certainly even my newer pants don't fit all that well. Can't wait for those LB maternity pants to get here!! But it'd be nice to be *obviously* and not just a little rounder!

I FEEL YOU! I'm at week 39 and there are still people who either don't realize I'm pregnant or assume I'm only a few months along. If I'm in the right clothes I can look very pregnant, but in a standared loose fitting shirt, I just look fatter.

I usually wear a size 18 and I've put on 15 pounds of pregnancy weight. I didn't look pregnant at all until the 5th month and even then it was hard to tell. My baby was breech and sat very high, so I just looked rounder.

I recommend empire waist tops. In those I look pregnant. Also, I started wearing high waist tights/nylons and/or high waist bike shorts or leggins under my clothes. That helps smooth my rolliness into one round belly.

Even now, my bellybutton hasn't popped. It's really close to being flush with the rest of my belly, but I don't think it will ever poke out.

Hugs to you!

Kristi

I was able to wear stretchy skirts for both pregnancies. No matter what pant I tried that were never comfortable. They cut off my tummy.
LOL This reminds me of when I first announced I was pregnant. I was maybe a month along and working at a group home with younger boys. One of them sat down next to me and pressed on my belly. He looked at me with this dirty look and said, "Wait a minute! That's just fat!" I told him that even though I was pregnant I was, indeed, still fat, but there really was a baby in there. I don't know if he thought I was making it up or what!
