I'm new to crochet and (almost )finished my first project - a little granny square afghan. I just ordered some cotton yarn online and now I'm looking for a pattern for a larger afghan for the family. I'm looking for something simple, maybe something they call an "aran afghan"? 3-4 different patterns in strips, so I don't have to change patterns within a row. Hope that makes sense. Any suggestions? The other question is, I got 3 lbs of yarn in 3 cones. If I want 6 different patterns in the afghan, whats the best way to find the mid-point in each cone? Also, how many chain stitches should I start out with? Many thanks!
