Killing the good stuff?

So... if I freeze kefir do the good buggies die? What about freezing yogurt? Can I freeze cod liver oil or will it's benefits disappear? What about high vitamin butter oil? (Can you tell I like freezing things?)

Just pipe in if you have any thoughts on any of the above! TIA! :

Okay, thanks. But what about the already made kefir (not the grains)? If I drink some of the kefir, can I freeze the rest and have it still have the same benefits?

I think you can freeze kefir or yogurt. It doesn't kill the bacteria, it just puts them in suspended animation. Once it thaws again it they should be fine. I freeze my butter, but I don't know what high vitamin butter is. Don't know how it would affect CLO.

Oh sorry - didn't even see your reply. I should gave clarified what I meant.

I figure if you can freeze kefir grains, surely you can freeze kefir and along the same lines yogurt. Just not too long I would say. Dom says a month, I think.

I know raw milk can be frozen, and butter as well since OP freeze theirs. People say it tastes the same though the cream in milk separates out.

I don't know about CLO - if you find out will you let us know? Maybe I can save money by ordering a case and freezing it...
