Flavoring yogurt

Thread Starter
We are just starting down this road, but I'm really enjoying it! Before NT, my kids ate LOTS of yogurt, but always the pre-flavored stuff. And no, they don't generally like the fruit flavors. Their absolute favorite is Boston Creme Pie. Any idea how I could flavor homemade yogurt to taste something like that? Would I be right in guessing that it's a vanilla yogurt with a touch of chocolate? What do you think? Surely I could make this flavor out of "good" ingredients.

Are there any other unusual flavors (i.e. not fruit) that you like to add to your yogurt? Right now I'm only using plain yogurt (mixed with kefir and whey) in our smoothies. Odd that they like it with fruit in a smoothie, but not as just yogurt, but that's my kids!

Thanks!
Melanie

I would think its vanilla..what about making vanilla yogurt and adding a chocolate syrup to the top. Probably not the healthiest but you could sweeten it with rapadura or something and not put too much on it.

we put raw honey in our yogurt all the time, once in awhile maybe a scoop of preserves if we have a little extra. i wonder if you could put cocoa powder on the stove w/ a little sugar, vanilla, it would make it kinda syrupy. you could probably make extra and put it in the fridge.
