Growing Pains or Not?

My son is 13, soon to be 14. He grew 5 inches in the last year. The past4-5 years he is always complaining of Knee pain after doing sports. Just last week his ankle was bothering him for a week after playing tennis. This week his wrist hurt after tennis. I take him to the doctor at least once a year in addition to his well checkup with his complaints. They are always telling me it's one thing or another. Nothing serious. Last time they gave him some exercises to do to strenghten his muscles. Being a nurse, I am always having these alarms going off in my head. Does anyone else have their growing teens constantly complaining of aches and pains? He is generally healthy other than an occasional cold or sore throat. He hasn't been a sickly child so I believe the Pediatriacians aren't seeing any red flags and wanting to pursue any further tests.

My younger brother, now 6'8", was always having joint pain during adolescence/puberty. He is now 29 and just fine ...just huge!
