I actually found a local midwife!! ...but....

...I dunno, she just gave me a weird vibe on the phone. I don't know why.

I was all excited too--stunned really--that there is actually ONE liscensed midwife that lives in this town (she's also the only one around for several counties ). Not that I'm giving up on UC, but it's always nice to know you've got another option besides the military ER if things get hairy.

Funny. I think talking to her actually made me feel better about my decision to UC...

LOL I'm not sure what to say I'm happy for here. The fact that you found her or the fact that you are more sure about you UC. I am glad that you are feeling more secure in your choice to UC though.

It is good to know that you don't have to rely on the military drs if you need too.

Is she willing to just be your backup?

I'm not exactly sure..! I am afraid to just come out and say
"i AM doing a UC, but will you just be my backup?"
because people around here are so mainstream that I'd be afraid of getting reported to the authorities or something

It does clear my thinking to talk to people and refine my mental list of options though--

It helps to know that IF it came down to it, I could just go to my mother's for an "extended stay" around my due date--then my midwife friend could attend the birth! :

Seems like you have some good options - especially going to your mom's. Might be nice to be there so she can help with Ian and Lilianna anyway! It's good to do the legwork, so at least you've done it and you won't always wonder "what if." what if there was a perfect, soulmate midwife in my town who was willing to be my UC backup and was totally supportive in every way! Well, now you know!
