In the midst of attempting to poty learn my dd, she has peed many times on our area rug, and it is starting to smell. You would have to get your nose right down there, but that is no good. I have tried baking soda, no luck, I am thinking bac-out but have no idea how I would do it. I would love any suggestions, this needs to work, it is really grossing me out.

You could try Nature's Miracle. It works wonders on cat pee odors so I would imagine it would do the same for the trials of potty learning (I just have to be thankful that we had hardwood when dd was potty learning, lol!). My SIL used to use pet stain carpet shampoo stuff and it worked well for her. If you can get it outside (area rug, right? not tacked down?) you can do the Nature's Miracle and air it out. The Natures Miracle works once it is dry, you saturate it and then just let it dry. Much easier to do this outside if you can. I hope this helps you Mama.

We've had great luck with BioKleen's Bac-Out.
last summer ds was peeing everywhere and this stuff did the trick!

I also vote for Nature's Miracle. They sell it at most large pet stores. Get the carpet wet with it, and let it dry. Smells like oranges, and isn't offensive even to my pregnant bionic nose!
It's the only thing that gets the stink of cat urine out, so I'd bet it would work with any organic stain/odor.

Vinegar works very well. Its recommended for when dogs are being house trained as they cant smell where they made messes before. I pour a water and vinegar solution over the puddle and vacuum it up with a vacuum capable of handling water.

We have used vinegar a lot as our yellow lab made a lot of yellow puddles on the carpeting during the course of house breaking and our house doesn't smell, that is like urine anyway.:LOL

Thank you for all of your suggestions. I am going to try to find Nature's Miracle, and I will also use the Bac-out. I am thinking I will hang it on my clothesline and spray it down, then apply the bac-out/Nture's miracle, let it sit and soak again, then leave to dry. Sound good? I guess I will do this until the smell comes out. yuck. Thanks again.
