What's in your breakfast smoothie?

So I gave got to get DH drinking kefir. He's not much for dairy in general, and plain anything will not appeal to him (I drink kefir plain.) I tried him this morning on 1 cup kefir, two T of blueberry spread (blueberries sweetened with white grape juice conc). He sorta went for it but wasn't crazy about it. I need more ideas! He doesn't like neners, so that's out. I think if I sweetened it it would work better. Can I put honey in kefir and not affect the probiotic content?

TIA mamas

We put a banana, a handful of frozen berries, kefir or yogurt, raw honey, some active greens and a little trace minerals.

I've always used kefir, banana, frozen blueberries (sometimes I add an avocado or some strawberries.)
I'm in the midst of reading this book on adrenal fatigue & apparently, bananas early in the day (if at all) are out. Too much potassium, it messes with the sodium in your body. Of course, this is only for those w/ adrenal fatigue & children born to people with AF can also suffer from it from the get-go.

Anyway, I'll be keeping my eye out for different variations on my morning kefir smoothie.

I do.....

Crispy Nuts (almonds or cashews normally)
Kefir
Honey
Raw Egg
Frozen Bananas, strawberries, peaches, blueberries, cherries

I usually add in things like spinach, avocado sometimes.

Acerola Cherry powder & Nutritional yeast.

This morning my smoothie consisted of:

1/2 avocado
big handful of frozen strawberries
milk kefir
coconut oil
chia seeds
flax seeds (I have a Magic Bullet, so I just put them in the cup first and grind them up before I add everything else.)
3 egg yolks
a scoop of greens
a spoonful of raw cacao nibs

So today it was a cacao and strawberry smoothie. Sometimes it's an almond and mixed berry smoothie, or a peach and blueberry smoothie. I mix it up, but I try to get as much nutritional bang for the buck (so to speak) as possible, as it's one of the few ways I can ensure my picky DS2 eats nutritionally dense foods.

ETA: The avocado makes for a thick, creamy smoothie and is undetectable in the smoothie. It's perfect as a replacement for a banana. I never use bananas in my smoothies, but I always use avocados.

When I make them, they usually consist of:

banana
some frozen strawberries
yogurt
raw milk
coconut oil
raw egg yolk
local honey

But I'm sure you can sub other fruits for the banana.

Most mornings we do

frozen strawberries
frozen peaches
frozen pineapple
milk kefir
raw honey
touch of orange flavored clo mixed with butter oil (can't put too much or it ruins it)
sodium ascorbate (because we are in big time cold and flu season)
coconut oil
egg yolks if we are getting fresh eggs (not laying much now)
water to get the consistency right

kefir
strawberries/blueberries
egg yolks
spinach
CO
peanut butter

If I'm trying to cover the taste of something I add more peanut butter. Maybe he would like that??

does CO stay lumpy after you blend it?

frozen blueberries, strawberries, blackberries
whole milk (cant get raw here)
and a smidge of maple syrup

Sometimes I add a greens powder
and kefir, it depends on who is drinking it. My dh wont do kefir either.

Have you tried the flavored variety of kefir? Maybe he would take to that better and you could slowly wean him on to the plain....

When I put co in my smoothies, I do have little chunks of co (which I just swallow down ). I use Nutiva co and it has a nice texture, not to hard- so I don't really mind the co chunks. Maybe if I had a better blender I would have less of them.

When I'm in the mood for a breakfast smoothie...
flax seeds
kefir
frozen fruit (typically strawberries but sometimes mangos, pineapple, etc)
fresh fruit (sometimes - apples or kiwis or oranges or pears, etc)
a couple of handfuls of raw spinach (it can make the smoothie a scary color, but I like getting some extra veggies in and don't mind the 'green' taste)
liquid (depending on how much kefir was added - sometimes water, milk, juice, etc)

Funny because I have the same CO (which is delish!) and a sucky blender, too.

When you put in your CO do you have it as a liquid and add slowly while it is blending like when you add oil when making mayo? If I add the CO really slow then I never get chunks anymore. Even back when I had a crappy cheapy blender.

smoothies are delish, but for something more simple that doesn't dirty the blender, my dh goes for homemade raw milk kefir with vanilla flavor and stevia added...shaken (sometimes I flavor the whole Qt) or stirred.

frozen strawberries and or mixed berries
give or take some banana
