She learned a new word

And the word is DAMNED!!! My 21 month old DD said it while we were driving home from the grocery store when DH had to swirve to miss a cab that was cutting into our lane and he shouted, "Sh*t." That was the first time I heard the D word from DD. Then last night at dinner, she spilled her water and said, "Mommy, damned." I laughed and of course she repeated it 20 times. She did not learn this word from me. My swear of choice is actually "crap." DH must have said it on their commute. Can I get her to forget this word? This comes just in time for our trip to visit my very authoritarian family in the South, the kind of people who slap kids in the mouth for repeating a swear. :

You could try replacing it with a different word by saying something like "darnit" very vocally to try to transfer her attention and focus to that word. Get your husband involved in this too. You might also make extra efforts to keep her with you and in your sight and make it clear that if any family touches your child there will be he** to pay.
