Nestle announced it has opened a factory in Brazil to supply milk powder and coffee to low income families there, in yet another sign of ethics becoming big business.

The irony of Nestle's strategy will not be lost on campaign groups, however, which will this year mark 30 years since the first boycott against the food giant, begun over the firm's infant formula marketing practices in developing countries.
See! We're good! We make cheap chemical concoctions to sell to the poor!

DRIPPING with irony-- if they really want to play ethics to drum up public goodlwill-- stop breaking the code!!! duh...

not to mention that caffienated employees are probably more productive, so there's some self serving going on there.

and how is it ethical to promote more packaging (=garbage)?

and how about the fact that they'll probably cut the income to the local small businesses there, who sell fresh milk and fresh coffee?

talk about spin control.

and the biggest question: what are the wages and working conditions of the factory workers?

my dh's company has a customer who is in the process of having something to do with neatle so by default nestle is now a client of my dh

they keep sending him home with loads THE most appaling products, like the aero mint youghurt/pudding - the ingredients alone make me want to heave, one of them is pork gelatine :Puke

needless to say my children do NOT eat them, but dh says he cannot say no.

needless to say i am not happy with the situation.
