Anyone made a "No Slippy" hair clip?

I have magnet stuff I can glue in, and it's just velvet ribbon and glue to finish it off, but where can one get tiny hair clips?

Sally's hair supply store.

Thanks -- they had them! I made one, pretty funky but it's a start.

what a great idea to use velvet for no-slip hair clips!

So you put magnets inside the hair clip so it doesn't fall out? How do you do that?

You glue a strip of that bendy soft magnet stuff (I just cut up an advertiser's magnet) to the bottom inside, so that it sort of holds on to the top. And cover the whole thing with ribbon. One long piece that goes inside and out. (Did that make sense?)

It worked well, except I didn't use the right kind of glue to hold the ribbon to the metal. Does anyone have a suggestion? I was wondering if rubber cement would be good.

I've never heard of the magnet - what a great idea! My girls have a barrette where the soft side of velcro is glued to one side of an alligator clip, and that seems to work pretty well too.

nak

i've been making these lately. it seems that it is really the velvet ribbon that holds it in place. magnets don't make much of a difference, i find. i use a hot glue gun to hold the ribbon to an alligator clip.

I've been making these for my dd also. Where do you find velvet ribbon in different colors? It's so hard to find pretty colors, they're all dark fall colors I've found so far..

Any pictures of what it looks like in the end? Is it really narrow ribbon in order to go around the end or how are the curves handled? Thanks!

I'd like to see pictures too, I'm having trouble visualizing it!
