I don't know anything about Japan, but I do know that if you're on a US military base, US laws apply. I have NIPed on base and off base, in uniform and out of uniform (picture me in BDUs at a restaurant nursing my 18-month-old ). I have nursed him at my desk at work, in my break room, and in empty offices. In the BX, in the commissary, in the library. Both in TX and OH. Never once has anyone said anything negative to me or even batted an eye.

When DD was born, I was told specifically that I had the right to breastfeed anywhere on base, period. 18 months later, no one's batted an eye.

I believe that federal law protects NIP on all federal property and military bases are certainly federal property. AS for NIP in Japan, it's been years since I was in Japan but I seem to recall that I saw a few mommies NIPing toddlers in parks.

Yep, federal law specifically protects your right to NIP on federal property, ie a US military base.
