This can't be normal...

My lower stomach area, between my belly button and thighs, has swollen like a balloon. When I sit, the puffy area rests on my thighs. When I stand... it's so swollen it hangs over my panties and basically hides them. : I had some leftover "overhang" loose skin from DD... but NOTHING like this. My thighs are also grossly swollen- my pants weren't fitting for some reason and I blamed my big belly and the dryer but thinking about it now, the thighs were tight too... these pants are over a size bigger than what I normally wear and up until maybe last week they were HUGE on me. My thighs just look AWFUL, like I have the nastiest cellulite in the world. Nothing else is swollen. My hands, feet, calves, ankles, and face are all normal. My wedding ring still fits. The edema isn't pitting when I poke it at all, and it's not painful. I have no symptoms of high blood pressure or pre-e. I really have no other symptoms (besides throwing up today, which I think was a result of eating too fast and having a cold/coughing and gagging, and a headache earlier that went away with rest.)

What the heck could this be? Google turns up nothing. I am getting really scared that there's something wrong with me, this amount of swelling can NOT be normal... it reminds me of how bad I was post-Cesarean with my daughter, if not worse. I'm calling my midwife once it gets to be a decent hour, but this is really freaking scaring me and I don't know, I thought maybe someone would be able to help me :

I'm sorry you're worried...did you call your MW?

Well I'm glad you are calling. What worries me is that you threw up which can also be a pre E symptom as you probably know. I don't want to be alarmist and I am sure you are just fine. But update us after you call and/or get checked out, k?

Got checked, BP is normal, no protein in my urine, nada. MW said it's probably from being sick yesterday and not getting enough water/throwing up, so my body freaked out and started retaining water... I am guzzling water and taking hot baths with Epsom salts every few hours to push the water into my bloodstream so I can get it all out, and it already seems to be helping a LOT.

Thanks everyone.

Glad to know you are doing better. That was very unusual (at least to me)

Popping in from the March ddc just wanting to reassure you. I get swelling in my thighs every pg. I think its from pressure. My mw gave me the same advice to take baths in salt, drink and eat more. It helps for a time but then the swelling is back again. Just so you know you aren't the only one!
