i had a professional photo done at sears portriat studio in florida. my sil works there so she took the pic. well i guess her manager reprimended her for taking it saying that if corperate complains that she have to to be writtin up.you cant even see any nipple,so i dont see what the problem is.it is a family photo and i thought sears promotes family photos. please comment on this.

Well, it's good he's not reprimanding her unless corporate complains. And if they do complain, I think we know what will happen to them!
:

I remember a similar issue at Picture People. They sent out a card encouraging moms to come in for "milestone" pictures of their baby holding their own bottle. So the mom went in to get a picture of her baby nursing and was rebuffed. Anyone remember this issue and can share details?

Anyway, it sounds similar to that incident. I think the manager in this story is worried about getting in trouble with his bosses most of all.

I'm sorry that happened to your SIL!

I almost wish he reprimands her so we can all go do a super nurse-in! Grrrrr. That's why I'm glad I have a good friend who is a pro photographer, I have a beautiful nursing photo that NO ONE complained about. Even my modest dad thinks it's beautiful.

Wow, I SO want to have a professional nursing portrait taken at, like, Target or the Babies R Us studio or some place realllly mainstream. With a cheesy background and a lace collar dress and everything.

eta: I'm not being sarcastic. I think it would be an awesome peice of lactivist kitsch.

You aren't the only one to get a professional pic at sears in Fla. Our LC took her 1 year old in for birthday photos and of course in the montage collection she had one of them was a lovely nursing photo, a close-up no less of just the baby and the breast! She didn't pull any strings to get it either.

Lets all go out for professional pics of our BF babes!

The whole thing's ridiculous, of course, and another example of misguided prudishness. Better spelling would help, though.

it is ridiculous. same as you commenting on my spelling when that is not the subject of the matter here.

Maybe I should go to Sears and get a tandem nursing portrait! I wonder what corperate would say about that!

I wish my local friends had young ones they were still bf'ing, I'm just picturing this gropu of nursing moms up against a cheesy wal-mart picture background all nursing their babies together! It reminds me of an exhibit of photos of women who had had mastectomies. Breasts are beautiful, natural, and amazing in all of their states!
Definitely let us know what ends up happening!
