cool toy ideas for b'day for 4 and 7 yr. olds?

Hi-I'm new! I wish I had found this earlier-I've read Mothering since my DD was born but just found these boards.

My kids, a boy and girl, will be 4 and 7 in April. I would like to buy one or two nice gifts for them. They tend to play together and with the same toys.

We have a lot of toys (too many, probably! ) so I want to make sure it is a quality item that will be played with a lot for many years.

We have building sets, crafts, games, dolls.

I may go with some boy dressup. He loves outer space stuff.
Any awesome products out there that your kids love?

We have the police and fireman costume from them. Great quality!!!!! Machine washable and they stand up to pretty much anything.

I bought this marble run block set for my 3 year old DD this Christmas. I thought it was a little too sophisticated for her so we have been playing together with it. It is totally addictive! It has been played with EVERYDAY since Christmas. DD has been starting top get the hang of it and building her own simple structures lately.

I think it would be a toy that your kids would enjoy playing with together or separately. You can later by expansion sets to add to the fun.
