Bridge to Terabithia

Hi,
Has anyone seen or heard any "mom" type reviews on Bridge to Terabithia?
My dd is 9 and we have not read the book. She is very sensitive and has not seen much at all in the way of violence. So I am a bit leary of taking her. She did see the Narnia movie and there is a bit of scary violence in that. She loves fantasy-type movies. We have been snowed/iced in at our house for 4 days and are looking for a movie to go see together.
Any advice would be appreciated!

my dd who is 7 went with me today to see it. It was wonderful. I did cry but more from a mom perspective. Losing a child and all. My dd was saddened but did not cry and she has cried before like in "2 brothers" the tiger movie, and has refused to ever watch it again. The part about Leslie's death is tastefully done- you do not see any part of it, it is only discussed. And the little boy who plays Jess does a beautiful job of conveying the whole situation. In other words, I think your 9 yo would most likely do fine. The situation occurs, but it is not played upon visually for effect to where I would think a child would be traumatized. I did on the other hand hear other moms crying besides me. Mainly because you feel the loss IMO from a parents perspective and pick up on it more if you are viewing it from those eyes. It really is a beautiful movie. I would love to see it again as would my dd. They really followed the book on this one and didn't screw it up. IMO it would be a good coming of age film for all older children... HTH!
As for the violence it is not really all that violent IMO as compared to Narmia it's nothing. The CGI stuff really was played up for the commercials I think. They do battle a couple mystical creatures, but there is NO gore and def no blood that I recall at all, more "defense" (hitting the creatures or defending themselves with sticks)type stuff for lack of a better word...The CGI parts really are a very small part of the whole storyline of the movie.
