67 Year Old Woman births twins... and breastfeeds

I saw part of a news show last night that interviewed a doctor in the invitro fertilization field... he had been lied to by a woman who claimed to be 55 at the time, however, she was actually 10 years older. Anyways, in addition to this being a very intriguing interview regarding women's rights to reproduce and at what age... It kept showing a picture of the woman holding one baby at her bossom, slightly covered by a blanket while the other little one lay next to her. From what I could tell it seemed like she was breastfeeding!! Granted, the woman lives in Spain. However, the show aired in the US... so I think it was cool. Although maybe it was too subtle for anyone to notice...

Anyone else see it? (it aired Thursday, Feb 15)

Meh. When asked how she was going to deal with them when they became toddlers, she said, "Oh, I'm going to get a playpen and keep them in it" : :

That lady should NOT have had kids.

It's great that she is breastfeeding, but IMO it was selfish to have children at that age. I mean I know you probably shouldn't tell women they can't have children, however at that age it is just selfish. I mean she will be 80 when they are starting high school. 55 is even too old IMO. My mom made the comment to my DS the other day that if a woman has a baby after 40 she must be crazy She of course was joking, she watches him while I work and sometimes he just wears her out.

Yes, there was a really interesting dialogue about how the industry is not regulated, that it's voluntary compliance... This particular doctor was saying that he had personal convictions about the age of a woman who conceives simply because of the complications of the pregnancy and birth, risk of all kinds of problems, and also the higher risk of death as you get older... could leave young children without a mother... which I know can happen for mother's and children of all ages... but I hope you get my point. The doctor's point on the flip side was that men of all ages can sire children with different social implications...

Anyways, that all is a conversation for a different forum. I should add that I don't remember her age when she conceived... either she is 67 now or ?? but I don't think she conceived at age 67.

Don't get too excited... i read an interview with her and she gave up breastfeeding pretty quickly. She made some really asinine remarks about perky breasts. Um, newsflash, you are 67, they aren't supposed to be perky anymore! Heck, i am 25 and they aren't perky anymore

Call me crazy, but I believe that there's a biological reason that women can't conceive in their 60s.
