Peter Richard arrived at 7:38 pm on Valentine's Day.
8 lbs, 13 oz, 19.7 inches long with lots of cute hair.
We had a lovely Valentine's Day pasta dinner with contractions picking up shortly thereafter (around 6:15). By 6:30, we called Grandpa in to watch our 3-yr-old. By 6:45, I called our doula. She arrived at 7pm, timed one contraction and we quickly realized I was already in transition! (I thought I was just having trouble coping). She drove me to the hospital while my dh found a neighbor to watch our son. I arrived at the hospital at 7:25, my dh showed up at 7:30, and Peter came at 7:38! Yowzers! He was born while I was on my hands and knees, sideways in the hospital bed, leaning on a chair. I couldn't figure out how to rearrange myself before he came flying out.
He's totally adorable! We're all home, he's nursing like a champ, and I think I'm finally over the shock of such a rapid birth.
