Another Valentine Baby...Charlotte Anne

Charlotte Anne joined our family on Feb 14, 2007!

I went into labor after DH finished seeing the Philadelphia Orchestra play on Tuesday evening...(guess she liked Vivaldi's Four Seasons an awful lot!) and was in labor all day Wednesday. Charlotte was born about 22 hours later at 10pm. Labor was INTENSE. But I am so glad we did it at home though...It took a looong time, and I am certain I would have been c-sectioned had I been at the hospital...not to mention it was lovely to get in my own bed afterwards and wake up at home. We're enjoying our babymoon...DH and my mom were amazing coaches!

Here are some photos

Aww, welcome to the world baby girl! I can't see the pics for some reason, but I'm sure she's gorgeous

OT, and I hope you don't mind me asking- who is your midwife? There are very few MWs in our area who would let a mama labor 22 hours at home without transferring, and I'm wondering if we're working with the same one (I'm right outside of Philly)

Good job, mama, and congratulations!

I used Womanwise -- Christy, Karen and their apprentice, Susi were all three there for the birth. 10 of the 22 hours were really hard core -The other 12 were really kind of the normal labor buildup of 8-10 minutes apart...so while I am pretty sure no docs at TBC or a Hosp. would have let me go on the way I did for 10 hours I think most HB midwives would have been comfortable with my labor being sort of normal in their terms...Anyhow in retrospect, one thing I loved was that my MWs never let on about my progress (lack of/ very slow dilation but it sure didnt feel that way!) in order to keep me mentally in the game, and they really let me kind of do my thing, while providing helpful encouragement, homeopathics, and suggestions. They also took great photos! I felt completely supported by them as a team...as did my DH and mom who were also there.

Karen is one of my backups- I'm working with a MW out of Baltimore who has done lots of twins, and another Philadelphia midwife as my main providers, but if they're busy Karen will be called. Isn't she great?

What I meant was that most CNMs would have transferred at that point, not so much CPMs or DEMs, which we have a major lack of around here Sorry if that was unclear! WomanWise is great to work with, though, and I'm so glad you had an awesome birth!

WOW! I seem to have long labors too and it's no fun! But I'm so happy she is here, and that you could stay home... those marathon labors are TOUGH! I couldn't get the link working either but hopefully I'll catch it when you get a chance!
