Can I hope that she will outgrow a dairy allergy this bad?

At 8ish mos I gave dd a taste of yogurt. Last week, I gave her one small curd of cottage cheese. Within 5 secs her face turned bright red, blisters formed all around her mouth and she was clawing at her face. I got some Benadryl in her and the blisters went away and she stopped clawing. The redness lasted a couple of days.
Obviously, I am not giving her any more dairy. But, how long? Is it even possible that she will outgrow this?

My oldest was allergic to dairy like that at that age... he outgrew it around age 2. He's also outgrown several other allergies, but still has a few.

Anything can happen, but it's best to hope for the best (outgrow) but prepare for the worst (that they don't outgrow the allergies). That way if an allergy is outgrown, it's a pleasant surprise.

From my understanding, milk allergies is one that is most likely outgrown. That's the good news. However, you'll want to be especially dilligent about not exposing her to any milk products for a long time. Milk and milk products (whey, etc.) are in so many things. You'll need to read food labels very carefully.

She had quite a severe reaction by your description and IMHO I would consult an allergist. Another exposure might not be treated by Benadryl and you could be facing a life threatening situation.

Thank you both! I will keep my hope.

Laura, I am being very careful about what I give her and I am talking to her doctor this week about an epipen.
