Yes you could say that, but you would be wrong. But as the saying goes, "there are none so blind as those who will not see."

Madmax...

Madmax, Thank you...I completely agree with the sentiment of all your posts.

The sad part is that some people don't have blind obedience...they do believe that this country is justified is reverting itself to the 1950's. The do believe that it is our right to rape and pillage other countries, under false pretenses of threat. WE are the worlds biggest threat.

The two sides posting her have very different morals and ethics. There are those of us who believe in peace, not only in raising our own children but in dealing with the population of the world at large.

Thanks max! I threw in a couple extra applause for UmmNuh.

Yes, Max.

I find in general, WILLFUL IGNORANCE among the citizenry, to be neither patriotic, nor in the best interests of our or ANY country. I am SURE that once the truth of what happened on 9/11 is revealed, there will be plenty of discomfort to go around for all.

That said, willful ignorance, therefore, is tantamount to treason in my opinion, especially with regard to such a truly coincidentally Reichstag-like appearing event that, in fact, has changed the face of life in America.

Amen!!! Let's not forget about right wing sponsored media-perpetuated willful ignorance.- Whew! That's a mouthful!

again the same could be said for you. I do know what you are trying to say. really! But as blind and mislead as you say I am (or conservatives in general), i cant help but think the same of you (or liberals in general). especially when i read the links provided.

may we all find common ground and peace together someday.
no matter what you say, no matter how you feel about my political views, as far as i am concerned, we are all on the same team....with just differing pov.

Yes, such blissful days are these....

I am sure that is true. The very fact that you are here on the Mothering boards speaks a great deal to your character and values. And it has never been my intention to offend, but rather to provoke a reaction. Sometimes that means pushing people's buttons.

I do think that most reasonable people want the same things, i.e: a nice place to live, a good wage, healthcare, education, a clean environment, and above all PEACE and FREEDOM. While the Bush administration has done quite a bit of talking about these things, it is an undenyable fact that they have done pretty much everything possible to undermine them. While no party is perfect, I think you need to ask yourself which party has shown in a tangible way they have the best interests of the overall public in mind, and forget about party-line rhetoric.

You are so right, peace and prosperity under ANY republican administration would be just that: A fantasy!!
The definition of nirvana is not illusion or fantasy. It is an Asian spiritual concept, meaning the bliss of oneness with the source of all things. This created world, OTOH, is illusion, which is called maya. So you've got it completely backwards, NM.

Nirvana--
Buddhist-The ineffable ultimate in which one has attained disinterested wisdom and compassion.
Hinduism-Emancipation from ignorance and the extinction of all attachment.
An ideal condition of rest, harmony, stability, or joy.

\Nir*va"na\, n. [Skr. nirv[=a][.n]a.] In the Buddhist system of religion, the final emancipation of the soul from transmigration, and consequently a beatific enfrachisement from the evils of wordly existence, as by annihilation or absorption into the divine. See Buddhism.

Namaste, and peace out, y'all.

thanks for addressing this Dar!!

I won't post what my vision of nirvana would be
post #35 of 63
ma·ya --
n. Hinduism
The power of a god or demon to transform a concept into an element of the sensible world.
The transitory, manifold appearance of the sensible world, which obscures the undifferentiated spiritual reality from which it originates; the illusory appearance of the sensible world.

maya-illusion
nirvana-detachment from the created world
thesaurus-wrong

all of this-probably OT!

"... ignorance is as Joyce stated a state of mind of willful bliss ...", ad nauseam. (I am wondering where I said this?)

Please do not project the concept of equivalence of bliss to ignorance onto me or attibute such a statement to me. I did not say that and you know it.

Such is an example of fractured logic, and poorly-executed obfuscation.

And let me say for the record, in re-reading my post to which you say you refer in yours, NM, you have put words in my mouth that I NEVER said.

That is intolerable no matter who does it to whom.

And to whom it may apply:

A wise man once said: "It is unwise to engage in a battle of wits unarmed."

Sorry this thread got so OT, max.

Returning to previously scheduled programming... joyfully!

This thread is getting pretty hostile. Can we tone it down a bit?
madmax, I'm a big fan! I love your stuff and always post it on other boards (where it's very much appreciated!).
Your comments always hit the nail right on the head!

Here we go again...but this is my last post in this thread, and I would not even bother, but once more from the top, to clarify for all!:

I NEVER said who I think has succumbed...anywhere in any post! NEVER USED THOSE WORDS ("conservative" OR "succumbed") so I don't know from whence they came....but NOT from me.

Tit for tat as a discussion tactic, cheapens any good points one has to make, and negates any respect one is sincerely trying or perhaps feigning to show, when one continues, after being called on it, to resort to putting words in another's mouth. It does not show respect for self or other, so it is no wonder when that bad oral taste from words being put there inappropriately, create what may approach a hostile tone. Most people do not welcome the role of ventriloquist's doll.

My deepest apologies to everyone offended by me or my posts in this sadly degenerated discourse that has taken away from max's masterpiece of parody, perfectly juxtaposing and superimposing another view skillfully. Max your work is so effortless-appearing, yet so well-executed in the intricacy of the result.

And again max...my deep apologies for my part in hijacking your wonderful thread that was about your superior wordsmithing skills, that as Ilaria points out, "always hit the nail on the head".

If any offenses, real or imagined, are attributable to me and/or my posts...I extend my heartiest and most earnest regrets and apologies. I never intend that and I am not an aggressive person by nature. I just hate having words put in my mouth.

Please if appropriate, delete all my posts from this thread as seen fit by the gracious mods. And if there are any further comments to be made, please take it to PM.

Thank you all for your time and patience...Joyce in the mts.

I'm really curious...............just what part of the piece above did that? Undermined the tradgedy and put blame on the victim? I re-read it 3 times trying to see it from that angle and, honestly, I just can't.
