Nesting!

I have to say I love feeling nesty. I honestly think it was built into us to be crazy cleaning maniacs leading up to the births of our babies...because otherwise I'd be bringing the baby home to the nastiest house ever! Its hilarious to me, I am noticing things around my house that have never bugged me before, and they are irritating the living daylights out of me!! Today I really deep cleaned all my appliances, inside and out. That is not a usual daily cleaning thing for me. Oh and I put together a bed for my DD, and moved the other one out. Now I'm pondering de-junking the toy closet and kids bookshelf. If nesting was a true sign of labor, I'd be having this baby TONIGHT!

Anyone else feeling nesty?

I have been nesting for the past few weeks, and loving it too. It feels like I'm really accomplishing something! Unfortunately, it hasn't been much of the "cleaning-type" of nesting (I'm letting DH take charge of that part), but more about organizing and arranging things for the baby, reorganizing DS's room and toys, and cooking(!). We just bought a chest freezer, and I've been busy filling it up. I've made: 2 pans of chicken enchiladas, BBQ'ed ribs, turkey meatloaf, marinara sauce, sweet sour pork chops, stir fry's, sweet potato waffles, coconut waffles, whole grain pancakes, cookies, fruit crisps . . . oh, the list goes on. I really feel so much more prepared for this little one to arrive than with DS, and have been having fun getting it all done!

Mmmm...good idea about the sweet potato pankcakes. I assume you're freezing them for a future breakfast. That's one of our favorite things.

I have been nesting, however I think last weekend I may have gotten into an unpacked box from the move (last spring) and caught myself a cold. I hardly ever leave the house and this cold seems like it was "injected into my system" much worse than most colds I encounter. This weekend (starting to feel a little better) I've been better at washing hands more frequently and keeping my hands out of my eyes in case I do encounter something nasty again.

I'm debating on a chest freezer, my regular freezer is almost full.

I love the feeling of nesting right now but on one else seems to get me. We are still in the process of moving and getting the new house ready and after i had my baby shower i just had to put everything together and that just caused me and DH to get into a big fight. Right now the way that i have been feeling i just have to have things done, he probably wont even sleep in his nursery for weeks but i want it all put together and organized asap before he makes his arrival.

I've had bouts of nesting on and off throughout this pregnancy. In fact, it was one of the first signs I was pregnant. I was cleaning like a mad woman, up and down the stairs, just going, going, going, and then all the sudden I stopped and thought to myself, "I wonder if I'm pregnant?". Yup. Positive pt just a few days later!

I have sorta been nesting. I washed all the hand me down clothes and new clothes I got for the babe, and ordered her CD stash. I am very anxious to purchase the co-sleeper and playard, so she has somewhere to sleep! Our nursery is gutted and won't be done for several months. I went shopping (which is difficult for me, since my legs are in excruciating pain), and bought some nice fabric bins to put her newborn cloths and diapers in, since we don't have any furniture for her yet. I would love to do more cleaning, but with my legs hurting and not being able to walk all that well, (or bend down), it is tough. My DH has been great with keeping the house very clean (maybe he has a nesting instinct??)

It all started back up today when I opened all the windows in the house to let the nice fresh air in after weeks of super-cold weather...and noticed how gross the windows were...then you can't have clean windows with dirty windowsills...and the miniblinds looked awfully dusty next to those clean windowsills...and then I had to dust the curtains and when I did that I saw the cobwebs next to the ceiling...looked down and saw how gross the floor next to the floorboards is...then I had to dust everything, polish the wood furniture, declutter/rearrange the stuff that sits out...

It's totally snowballed. I'm out of control.

I go through bouts of nesting, and...(scary music) it's begun again!!!

I was wondering why I suddenly had an overwhelming urge to clean off my computer desk, start washing all the wee ones clothes, season the new pots and pans that we got for the holidays...

DH realizes now that he's just along for the ride... helping any way he can, and staying out of the way when he can't.

I was just going to start a thread about this!

My thing is I am out of control. This entire pregnancy I've been this way though. At first I thought it was b/c I was trying to better my relationship with DH and though by cleaning and having a clean home I'd make him happy.

Well lately I've been in such a cleaning frenzy I barely can make it through my days. I go to bed crying b/c I'm in such pain. DH called me the other night and I was crying in pain. He told me to STOP doing so much and just rest as much as I could. He doesn't care about the house being clean (er, well, spotless).

I realized using the excuse "to make DH happy" was just my way of validating all this cleaning. LOL.

I'm literally out of control. I have to stop because the pain is really unbearable. But I.can't.stop.cleaning.

And I am SOOOO jealous of all of you! Not an ounce of nesting with my last, and not looking to show up here any time soon either. Any extra vibes to send my way?

I am too tired to nest. : I am very jealous that you ladies will have nice clean houses when your wee ones get here. I will be lucky to be able to pace the floor when I am in labor. My house looks like the tasmanian devil lives here. Oh well with 3 kids all I can seem to be able to keep up with is cooking them a hundred meals as day. The only good thing is that once my wee one gets here I am going to stay in bed for a week at least and my DH will play with the kids and clean the house, ahhh that is something to look forward to.

DH is waiting in abject fear... with DD, I decided (at 39w5d pg) to home renovate - I tore up the floor in two rooms, retiled, built a wall and gate around the stairs, put in permanent shelving and tiled a tabletop. DH and the tile guy at Lowe's were laying bets that I was going to give birth in the tile isle...

This time around we are renting, so I .... must... not... tear... up... floors...

Cleaning just doesn't sound like nearly as much fun

I'm actually feeling the cleaning and cooking type of nesting this time around... but I'm not getting any energy to go along with it to accomplish my growing to-do list!

I must mop the floors today. I've been chanting that mantra to myself for the past two weeks, and my floors still aren't mopped and looking worse by the day.

My friends always said they would move to another planet the day I started nesting. and they have been saying this for years and years, and rhis is my first full pregnancy!

I am just such a clean freak, BUT no nesting period for me ! :
I was sooo looking forward to that, I was thinking I will get so much done, my house has NEVER been this horrible. I'm the kind of person who cleans the window frames with a toothbrush to get all the grime out, pull refrigerator out and stove for regular cleaning, polish ceiling fan etc. I color code clothes in the closet, all facing the same way, all sepratated by style, long sleeve, short sleeve,etc.
This whole pregnancy has me feeling blah. I don't do anything but wash clothes, hang it, pick it up, and throw it in the basket. if my bf has to wear something I iron it at that moment.
SOME PLEASE RUB YOUR NESTING VIBES ON ME!

Those of you wishing for nesting vibes...the urge WILL hit you at some point, I promise. I don't know of a single woman who has been pregnant and not nested at some point. It may be just a couple hours before you actually have the baby, but you will get some urge.

Until then, rest up and save your energy for when your instincts take over and make you a mad-cleaning-organizing-cooking-preparation-for-the- apocalypse-type woman.

Although I wasn't planning on getting the baby's things ready for another week or two, I ended up starting today. Everyone (expect me!) in my house is sick! I have 5 sick children and 1 sick husband. So, the chances of me getting sick are pretty high. They don't have the flu, just really bad colds. Since I'm not sick I figured I had better take this time to get some things ready.

Also, I wanted to have some things out and visible so my 2yo dd can see that there is a baby coming. Today I set up the portable play yard (like a Pack 'N Play) to use as a diaper changing station downstairs and so all day she's been going over to it and saying "baby".

Hopefully I only have 3 weeks left. I got the rest of my cd stash today and so I am so excited. It's funny what you can get excited about, isn't it!

It's not here yet.

I am too tired and in too much pain (pelvic issues) to clean. All of the things on my list are things for other people to do anyway. Like Dh throwing out his boxes of crap in the basement... Dh moving things around in the house... I have overwhelming urges to rearrange things, but I simply can't do it. I notice things like the kitchen floor needing to be mopped, and I could actually do that. But I apparently don't care enough to follow through!

Just hit the other night!!! I was packing away ANYTHING we didn't use or need or need out - cleaning and organizing...but then I got really mad b/c dd isn't due for 5 more weeks and I'll just have to re-clean later! Oh well, I did enjoy it!!
