My first came 17 days early and I was at 3.5cm for 24 hours and went from 4 to 10 and pushed him out in 80 minutes after the MW broke my waters. My DS was a big boy and I'm glad he didn't wait until the due date.

Now #2 is due in September and I'm doing a homebirth but the midwife will need to drive 90+ minutes. I'm curious as to when I need to tell her to "come NOW" and wonder how much it might correlate with the timing of the first born.

Survey says??

Both of mine were 5 weeks early- with dd I went from 6 cm to delivered in about an hour, with ds, I went from 6 cm to delivered in about 30 minutes.

DD #1 was 5 days late (induced hospital birth) and DD #2 was 8 days late (came on her own good time at home). My babies just like to "cook" a little longer than 40 weeks!

With ds1 I went into labor on my own at about 41 weeks 6 days, hours away from being induced with pit just because I was "overdue".
With ds2 I was convinced I would carry past 40 weeks. While I'll never know if I really was going to or not, I think the only reason why my induction at exactly 39 weeks took only 5 hours from cervadil to pushing was because I was not very far from going into labor on my own after all (I was induced for risk of pre-e. I dind't even actually *have* pre-e, but they dindt' want me to be "late" because they were afraid my second baby would have the same trouble at birth (iatrogenic) that my first one did. What idiots)
However, they were both just over 8 lbs (8-4 and 8-8)
Ds3 I *think* I was about 39 weeks ( I did an unassisted pregnancy, so I just said well I got morning sickness on blah blah date so I must have been 4 weeks). He was 10 lbs

Dd was due on Aug 7 and was born Aug 15. My labor was 10 hrs start to finish, about 6 hours of "hard" labor.

Ds was due Jan 15 by my count and Jan 17 by my mw's count. Hw was born Jan 17 after 5 hrs of labor start to finish. I had about one hour of "hard" labor with his birth.

If I were you I would call right away if you think you are in labor. I waited to call with my ds and if I would have waited any longer she wouldn't have made it.

#1 was three days early. (39w4d)

#2 was thirteen days early. (38w1d)

I think #2 was earlier b/c I was still bf #1

You did not ask, but #3 was 1 day late. (40w1d)

#4 was three days early. (39w4d)

All at home, no major complications.

They were twenty-eight months apart.

#1 was induced at 42 weeks : - 10 hours of labor, way too many interventions - ending in unnecessary C-section.

#2 was born at home the day before my due date - 12 hours of labor and 40 minutes of pushing

#1 was 2 weeks late, planned induction, cervidil put me in labor that lasted 3 1/2 hours (on a sleeping pill with no sleep)!! so dd was born hours before pit was supposed to happen!!!

#2 was 1 week 1 day late, homebirth, also 3 1/2 hours, starting with a water break.

#3 is due May 29th, less than 1 week away, and even though I am 2-3 cm dialated I still think it may be a week or so.. but who knows

We'll see what #4 has in store in October.

#1 born at 38w1d (induced for PIH : ) eight hour labor from start of IV to delivery. Only the last couple of hours were painful, but those few hours were very intense as I was made to lay in bed while they pumped me with Pitocin. Yeah, I was at risk for stroke because my bp was 130/80 (Um, hello?!). Sorry, I still get mad about that.

#2 born at 39w6d with a four hour (three weeks of annoying prodromal labor though). Only the last 20 minutes hurt and that was transition & pushing. Only took two pushing contractions and he was born! I called the midwife at 12:20 and said "I *think* this is it" and he was born at 4:34am.

PS- Next time my midwife has given my strict instructions to call the second I think it's real, especially since both times I started labor at 4cm. If my next labor is 1/2 the time again it will only be 2 hours!
