Just a vent...

OMG, soy is in EVERYTHING!!! When DS tested +++ for soy on his skin test last week (we had no idea), my first thought was, "What a PITA! Soy is in everything!" Well, I didn't know how right I was. DH and I went to do the grocery shopping today and what a nightmare! We had to go to three different stores to find some bread that DS can eat (I borrowed a bread machine from my mom so we won't be going through that again!).

Stupid, stupid cheap soybean oil!

Tantrum over.

: That is one I am sooo thankful we don't have. But we do have egg and dairy allergies (and tomato and strawberry). So I do feel your pain. It stinks

Do you have access to a grocery store that carries kosher products? Things that are kosher for passover are soy free, and might be useful to you. Stuff like soy free chocolate, potato chips, margarine, cereals, soy and dairy free whipped toppings.

Kosher for Passover products are also useful for people dealing with corn allergies.

It's not organic stuff usually, but when it's the only option, well, what can you say?

We have soy allergy here. A lot of people w/ soy allergy are ok w/ soy oil (NOT cold-pressed, though!) and soy lecithin. After a few weeks of cutting out ALL soy, you can try something w/ soy oil and see how it goes. Soy lecithin is more likely to be tolerated than the oil, I believe. Some kids still react to even the lecithin, but a lot don't, so it's worth a try. We can do both.

Yeah, Soy allergy is a hard one! My little girl cannot tolerate the soy oil or the lecitin. We usually bake bread together(its fun!!) or buy bakery bread from wholefoods.

We've been baking our own bread too. It's not that much work once you get used to it. I do it by hand, no machine. I don't think the machines really cat back all that much on the work and they're a PITA to clean.
