4.5 year old - first time with tooth pain

My little one has a tooth ache today..both top and bottom...for the first time. I do not see anything. He does eat some sweets, but he truly is a good eater (everything from asparagus to fish to steak to lobster to broccoli to escargots).

What are time frames for new teeth? We brush and floss...and he eats lots of apples.

My almost 4.5 year old just went to the dentist for the first time and did have some cavities . . . we also eat a healthy and varied diet and brush and floss. Her little friend had the same problem recently (accompanied by a toothache like your little one -- though I don't know what their diet and tooth care habits are like.

I would take her to the dentist and see what they say.

Same as prior poster. My son is 4.5 and he has had a few cavities even though we brush, floss and have a pretty good diet.
The dentist said its genetic i.e..me! I would take you kiddo in to make sure, the sooner the better, when they are small they are really fast to fill.

Ours said genetics as well . . . I'm blaming grammy though, since I didn't have cavities until I was in my teens.
