Still looking forward to labor

Is that weird? No, really... is it? Is it really weird?

I'm a gosh darn marathon runner... I HAVE to be crazy and enjoy pain to some extent.

Am I nuts? Totally?

Not nuts at all! Or at least not according to me, for whatever that's worth!
I was so excited to experience labor with my first. I haven't had much time to think about it this time around, but now that my BH are getting a little more noticeable I am getting that feeling of happy anticipation again. I think it is just such a cool thing to get to experience. Have you been reading Ina May's Guide? I think that's what helped get me so amped up about laboring.

I don't think you're crazy at all! Although I think for me there's always that tiny fear of knowing what to expect (the crowning, ouch!) but for the most part I too look forward to it. It's the one time you experience pain with a purpose, and what a wonderful purpose that is!

I'm not quite ready with my supplies yet but I am looking forward to it.
I think that is why we get so miserable at the end so that we look forward to labor - anything to be done being pregnant
Just like running, it's not about the pain, it's about the accomplishment

The highs in between contractions were super-fun for me when I labored with my first. Like, the natural painkillers your body produces--they kept surging right through the breaks. And they carried over some after he was out. Reminded me of my younger, funner, dumber days: . A natural high. If only you didn't have to endure the pain and discomfort to get it...

I am looking forward to the labor because it means I'll get to see this baby who does yoga in my belly all day long. Can't wait to kiss those little bitty feet and dress her up in this cute pink stuff I've been collecting!!!

I actually love being in labor. I am a miserable preggo and labor is just heaven for me. It is hard work, but I love how I feel afterward, with the nursing and meeting the new babe. It is such a rush! I am soooooo excited!

I feel terrible saying it, but I really suck at being pregnant. But I don't think it's the END of pregnancy that I'm looking forward to.. Not sure.

Century rider...

I'm an endurance cyclist and am really curious to see what kind of comparison mentally and physically that birth has to some of my more difficult events. The emotional stages of labor sound so similar to the emotional phases one goes through in endurance. Probably same for a marathon, it's about mile 22 that you feel like you just gotta quit, can't go another step, and then in no time it's all over. The natural highs and lows. I can probably write a book about how I think it will compare, I want to see how true they are.

Even in pregnancy, the general dull overall soreness relates to soreness in training seasons or post events some days. I honestly haven't been bothered by it, and probably a little bit soothed by it. I'm not quite obsessive, but I like feel accomplishment from feeling sore on the bike, and same is true in pregnancy. Being sore like this means that things are happening like they are supposed to.

Besides, that labor means getting to meet my little guy soon.
