credit score/report

If I get a free credit report (through a reputable site backed by the Federal Trade Commission) will I get my credit score as well? Or just a "report" of who looked at my credit and what type of credit I have out?

You only get your credit report, no score.

I purchased my score from one of the compnaies for like $8, was worth it to me.

Be aware that every company has a different score for you (because every company has slightly different info for you), and they can be wildly different. If you're planning on doing something with it (refinance or even just credit repair), it's usually a good idea to get a triple report with scores (that's a report from the 3 major companies).

If you really want your score, I think you have to pay for it. However, if you're applying for credit - your lender will pull the score, and you can just ask them, IME, they'll tell you your score if they know it.

Do you feel like you need your score for something specific? In most cases, I think having a credit report will get you what you need, and they are free
