Oh Yonit I am so sorry you guys are struggling like this. I wish I had some great advice for you. And to have to homeschool the others at the same time. Wow. Maybe spring break for the kiddos is in order?
On the bright side, you said you were able to get the others to nurse eventually right? Oh I hope that this is just a temporary rough patch that will end for you VERY soon .

ummm... i think he's not nursing because you are feeding him with a syringe.

get thee to the closest LLL meeting or have a LLL leader come to your house to help get that baby latched on.... i personally think it's a mistake to weigh babies repeatedly. then you focus on the weight instead of the nursing.

i think the very best thing you can do is not supplement (unless baby is dehydrated), get baby latched on (as poor weight gain in a 5 day old baby is usually poor latch) right and nurse nurse nurse.

do not sabotage your supply with formula, syringe feeding or pumping.

and stay away from the scale unless baby is dehydrated.

Does your hospital offer any help? Mine has a breastfeeding clinic for free, where there are lactation consultants and you can come in any time 9-4pm without an appointment and get help. I have taken Maya twice and the lady there was really good and knowledgable and things are slowly getting better.... but certainly not easy by any means. They even lent me a pump for free so that I can pump a bit before latching her on through the engorgement phase.... my milk comes squirting out so fast and she's just choking and sputtering on it.... so that has helped...

With the super high palate, the nursing will be a challenge. I see you went to an LC, but have you tried the LLL yet? The tongue tied-ness will present it's own challenges, but you will need to work with the palate issue first.

IMO, I would nurse then use ebm to supplement with the syringe. I would stay away from formula as long as possible. Formula screws up the supply/demand system that the breast depends on.

Keep us updated.
