It's a good theory and one we've put in the mix. She will sometimes play along... sometimes not.

We're in a similar boat. Dakota is just terrified of the potty. Didn't used to be, but got scared right around the same time your dd did. The only difference is that Dakota HATES diapers with a passion.

Sympathy is good. Though I guess potty training is the last thing on your mind right about now...

Sigh. We've had some progress lately. She will ask for a clean diaper now 50%- 75% of the time...

OK, you've probably tried this too, but my kids were very interested in listening to the SOUNDS made when they go . . . "Listen carefully!"

Make it really exciting and suspenseful, I wonder what it will sound like . . . I could go into more detail but . . .

Then, of course, flushing and waving bye bye was a motivating factor too!

Just wanted to offer you a

Mine are a few months older than your dd and just PL. We tried 2x (once when they were about your dd's age) and the second time (when they were almost 3) they went from 5 accidents / day to nothing pretty much overnight. I too was waiting for just one pee in the potty. Only main difference was mine weren't particually attached to diapers. I had 3 in cloth diapers so I know it is kind of a PITA (seems weird with just one in dipes now and she's about ready to PL too).

My good friend had a ds very much like your dd from what it seemed. He knew what the potty was for, and didn't really care . He liked his dipes! He could hold it for hours too. What finally worked for him (again, just before three) was she ran out of disposies (what he was in) and mom said there were no more & offered undies (which he had always rejected). Anyway he seemed to be a kind of logical kid & once there were no more diapers there were no more and he grudgelly accepted undies & pottie (she had a tough day or two, but there really were no more and she didn't break down & buy more)

I don't know how you feel about fibbing to kids vs. wanted her PL, but maybe if you let yourself run out of laundry detergent or soemthing and show her there is no more and you can't get more until a few days later (my friend said tehre was no more money for diapers until daddy got paid). Just a straw to grasp out.

Good idea- so good we tried it Only we put the diapers away and "gave them away to babies"

She wore the underwear. And peed and pooped in them.

sigh.

Sorry

How long did she pee & poop in them? Mine peed & pooped in undies for 2 - 3 days, pretty consistantly, then a lot less (like 1 - 2x / day) for a week or so. After that all was pretty much good (ocasional accidents, but they are the exception rather than the rule or even "normal")

You have motivated me to get on the ball with Rivka though. She's ready, but I"m not sure I am (we will be moving in another 6 weeks, staying at IL for a few weeks, then going back home. I'm afraid it's too many changes. I plan on stripping her nakey this summer (she'll be like 23 months) and going for it, but you are making me think maybe it would be good to give it a try now. :

Two days for every pee and poop. Nothing in the potty. Then the ceiling fell in in our guest room and mama could only take so many messes at once

I KWYM there. My twins were doing all their peeing and pooing anywhere BUT the potty, and then that first catch is like euphoria. It will come, don't worry. I know it's been said before, but she won't wear diapers to her wedding. (well, unless she wants to, but that is between her and her dh to be )
