cinnamon causing eczema?

I apologize if this as been brought up before, I'm just at a loss here. DD broke out in eczema all over her back, some on her legs, arms & belly. I thought it was from letting her try a little bit pf PB 3 weeks ago since the rash showed up the following day. However, it continued to get worse, then better, then worse. I could not figure out what has been causing it. She loves tomatoes & has been eating tomatoes & tomato products for about 9-10 months now. She started to like cinnamon, more than she used to, about 2 months ago. I stopped giving her tomato foods since Thursday. On Saturday morning, she had cinnamon toast & woke up from her nap with 2 eczema patches on her face. She hasn't had cinnamon since & her skin shows improvement. I never heard of a cinnamon allergy, but I'm kind of hoping that's the cause. She LOVES tomatoes! Food allergies don't run in either of our families, so I'm surprised it happened to her. I guess I'm just looking for moms that have had this happen, maybe it's not those foods at all. Also, once her skin clears up, how long do you wait before trying again? Believe me, I'm in no hurry, I'm just curious. I'm sorry for the novel. TIA for your help!

It's entirely possible to be allergic to cinnamon. I did a quick google search, and it sounds like its not uncommon. Cinnamon may be a hard one to avoid, as it could be listed as a natural flavoring of many products.

Tomatos are also a highly allergenic food. DS is allergic to tomatos. No one in our immediate family has food allergies either. DS's paternal great uncle has food allergies, as does his great grandmother.

My ds was allergic to cinnamon for about a year; he broke out in a horrible rash every time he ate ANYTHING with cinnamon in it. We were stumped at first too, but figured it out with an elimination diet.

The bad news is that my SIL and mom and MIL are all mildly allergic to cinnamon still (their mouths and tongues get swollen and red and painful if they even chew cinn. gum), but my ds seems to have outgrown his cinnamon allergy.

Thank you both for replying so quickly, I really appreciate it. I didn't think it could take so long for an allergy to develop. I hope she grows out of them, I guess time will tell. I'm going to be nervous when, well if, I try these foods again.
