Uti

Okay, so i went to my chiro yesterday and she asked if it might be possible that I have a urniary tract infection. I told her yeah, I have had to pee like every 5 minutes, but my baby was so low that I kinda expected it. She told me that my baby isn't that low, the pressure may be from a uti...So more I thought about it, the more I realized that this would answer a lot of things, why I have been going to the bathroom so often, the contractions I have been having, the pressure where there is no baby...
Anyway, I got some Just Cranberry juice last night. I am going to drink such an insane amount of water and cranberry juice that my eyes will probably turn red...I am calling my midwife today. But I am wondering, what can she do? I don't think she can prescribe meds, and would she prescribe anitbiotics? I am not an anitbiotics person, try to avoid them at all cost, but if this is serious, I have never had a uti before, can you tell? I will go on anitbiotics. So any advice?

My MW thought I might have a UTI also b/c of the menstral type cramps I was having and that I was going to the bathroom lots. She said if it burnt when I peed then I need to get it checked out and the dr would prescribe antibiotics. Well I am also not an antibiotic person and it never burnt when I peed and the cramping went away I didn't do anything. But drinking the cranberry juice is good. Also just watch to make sure that you aren't getting unexplained back pain into one side b/c then that could be a kidney infection. That is all my MW told me to watch for.
Good Luck. I hope it isn't a UTI

If you already have a UTI the cranberry juice probably won't help at all - it is ok to prevent but can't cure.
It is VERY important to stay away from sugar, even white flour things as it will feed the infection.
Get some probiotics. OptiBiotics by Eclectic Institute is a great brand but if you can't find those you can get probiotic pearls from Vitamin Shoppe and maybe even GNC.
The dose on the box will say 1 per day but when I had a YI at the beginning of this pregnancy and the flu last week I was taking two twice a day.
Flush out your body with plenty of water, stay away from sugar and lots of probiotics - you can't over do probiotics so you could even get some GSE - Grape Seed Extract capsules as well. It would be so much better than your UTI going to a bladder infection or going on abx.

Good luck!

I may be having the same thing right now....it doesn't really burn when I pee or anything, but it seems like my itching is around my urethra.....

anyway...I second the water, water, water, probiotics, GSE, and heck...cranberry juice can't hurt either! I once had a UTI that I let go...thought it had went away...then it went to a bladder infection (that I totally missed)...and then to a kidney infection...and I wouldn't wish that pain on my worst enemy!!! I also am not an abx person...so, I guess I need to get started on this stuff too...cause if not...i'll have no choice if i let it go too far!

and to you...i know how annoying all this stuff can be!!

So I have been drinking water like mad, drank a whole thing of the just cranberry in a day, try to do that, really, just cranberry is some pretty strong stuff Took double dose today of my probiotics and peed every single time that it felt like I needed to pee. Not only did I notice that I wasn't peeing as much as I thought I was, but my contractions that have been bothering me for like a week were less and I feel better. So I am not sure what is up with my body, but I still have no burning, no pain, just that little bit of pressure. But I did notice something else, most of the time that pressure is there is right after I stand up. It only lasts for a little bit, 5 minutes. Well, because of the 2 girls I get up and down a lot, and those are the times that I feel like I have to pee and barely pee. So it seemed like I was never emptying my bladder. But if I have been standing for awhile, and feel like I need to pee and go I pee more. I never thought I would be talking so much about my bathroom habits with anyone But so anyways, I am thinking that if it was the start of a uti that flushing and all the other stuff helped. Still going to keep this up though. That was enough of a scare, and I feel like I haven't been taking care of myself this way, so I will from now on.
