Post Partum blood pressure

Has anyone experienced high blood pressure only after you gave birth? My blood pressure was completely normal until I went into labor - then, it spiked to 159/92 and I was stuck laboring in bed because the hospital staff feared that I would keel over.

It took 4-6 weeks, but my bp eventually leveled out. But now I get awful headaches when my bp goes up from stress. Has anyone experienced this?

I haven't experienced this myself, but pre-eclampsia can come on after the birth of the baby.

from preeclampsia.org:

Can preeclampsia occur after the baby is born?

In some instances, preeclampsia does not show up until during the delivery, or up to two weeks post-partum. While this is less dangerous for the baby, it is actually the most critical time for the mother. Any of the above signs and symptoms should be cause for concern, and the mother should immediately contact her health care provider.
