Question regarding "trigger" shot

Today I went for an ultrasound to check my egg and they determined it "ripe and ready" LOL anyway, I then went on to get a "trigger" shot of Chor Gonadot or "HCG" and it specifically states on the instructions to inject into the muscle (of course I read this tonight after I got home from work) and the nurse today specifically stated that "not to worry, it won't hurt much since its not going into your muscle...just under the skin". WTF????????????????? Now what? Do you think it will have the appropriate affect?? I am so P.O.'ed right now it's not even funny. Infertility is challenging enough without stuff like this adding to it KWIM?

I just had to do my trigger the other day and the nurse said " just dont read the package instructions...." and gave me my directions ( which was to do it in my leg). When I asked why she said that she said the meds were initially meant for IM but they have found no difference with preg rates either way- so since it is THE important shot, they advised women to do it themselves as usual, rather than have someone new step in and try to do it off the cuff. This was for ivf, and includes lots of shots before the trigger, so it made sense to me. Yours could be the same, but if there is an on-call # I'd check just to be sure. Good luck! Hang in there!

My last HCG shot went right under the skin, into a fat roll in my stomach (the cycle before that it went into my butt). We conceived that day.

They put it in my arm....next month I'll insist on my butt or belly

It's definitely just subcutaneous and not intramuscular. I am guessing that maybe the intramuscular instructions are for a different treatment? I don't know. All I know is that all the times I've ever had to do a trigger and all the instructions and everything I have read say to give it sub-q.

I hate that shot though. I always do it in my stomach and then it itches for like five days after. :

Mine was the brand name Ovidrel and sub-Q. I was too chicken to do it myself and had a friend (nurse) do it for me. Hopefully I won't have to repeat it again next month. Are you having an iui? Good luck and let us know the results!

I always get mine in my hip, and it leaves a bruise and I couldn't sit on that side this time. So I guess they went into my muscle.
