Is it possible....

to get my almost 11mo old to poop "on a schedule"?
She WILL NOT sleep if she has to poop, even if she has the feeling that might might poop in the next half hour, she will not go to sleep! I just sat and nursed and rocked her for 30 min to try to get her to go to sleep for her first nap of the day- which she was acting desperately tired for and was signing milk for---and she would not do it. Frusterated, I put her down to play, and when I came back, sure enough she had a poopy in her diaper... Tried againto get her to sleep, and no luck, put her down and TOOT! another little poo. She finally is napping now, but after an hour of up and down fighting me and the nap. I feel like a total idiot for jsut realizing now that this is probably why she resists sleeping sometimes.... but yea.... How would I get her to poo on a regular routine at this age? We have a potty, which she has sat on and is famiiar with (the Boon potty bench. She seems to like it and I like that it makes a seat for bathtime.) and she has also peed in twice.... But I am at a loss othewise. I have had a hard time finding a whole lot of real details how-to's on late starting short of letting her run free and see what she does...

How do you get a 10mo old to sit on the potty long enough to go poo?
How do you get her to poo at a certain time? IS that even POSSIBLE?
What does a day in the life of a late-start EC-er look like? What do you do when out and about? We use fuzibunz, so the damp sensation for pees is there, but I am less concerned with pee at the moment...
thanks so much!!!!!!!!!!

We're having a different trouble with poop here, but we used to have the exact problem you described with peeing. We just got into the habit of offering pee/pooping before every nap and if we ran into occassions where he seemed tired but fussed a lot then we offered again.

I don't think you can schedule a kids pooping. We're trying to be more aware of when we feed Ds fruits vs. grains; Dh is fairly sure that has an impact on his timing. Its probably more likely you can swing her from morning to night, or afternoon to morning than just by an hour or two. Plus, it might be because of the relaxing before her nap that she's finally able to poop so its possible nothing else will help that.

ETA: Sorry I don't have advice for the rest. Have you read the Late Starters Support thread at the top of the page?
