Travel Toys

Thread Starter
This kinda goes along with my Easter/Spring Basket thread because I'm hoping to find some great ideas from you for some great travel toys that I can them put in their baskets. So what things are must haves for you when you take a long trip. I'm looking for inexpensive items which is why this is in this section. I'm trying to save as much as possible.

Having just flown back & forth from NH to Seattle, I have a few ideas: sticker books, coloring books, lacing activities, and finger puppets. These are our standard (non-electronic) travel activities.

I second the sticker books. On the inexpensive side: New books (new to the kids--could come from thrift store, dollar store, or library), new coloring books and crayons (again, dollar store), and a MagnaDoodle-type toy. On the more costly side but might be worth it: Color Wonder markers and paper/coloring books, travel-size AquaDoodle. Also, we found these magnetic play scenes from SandyLion that travel well (as long as you take along a baggie or small container to keep the magnets in.) And never underestimate the appeal of some yummy (healthy) snacks. Hope you have a great trip!

ITA with your suggestions. We always carry the MagnaDoodle with us because DS loves to draw, but I didn't want to be losing crayons all over a plane.
We've also taken the Color-Wonders markers and paper, and sticker books, too. Any books, really. I also pack some snacks for the trip. Have fun!

For slightly older kids, that painters tape is awesome. It comes in colors, you can build little things with it, it tears easily, and it doesn't damage surfaces.
