protein in urine, induction possible! OH NO

I had protein in my urine at Wednesday's appt- and again today (friday). They sent me to get blood work and I also have to do a 24hr urine collection (yay for peeing in a jug for 24 hours). If the results of the bloodwork or urine specimen are not good they will probably induce me. I am due on Monday- I really really really hope I go into labor this weekend so I can avoid this. I really do NOT want to be induced, as I really want a natural, pitocin free (well completely drug free), labor. My blood pressure is stellar, and has been throughout pregnancy and I really don't have any swelling. But YIKES you guys!

When I was in high school a woman in my town actually died in labor because her kidney function was so bad and they didnt check her urine for protein. Her blood pressure was good, as mine is. So I guess I'm glad they found this out, I just really don't want there to be a problem. Come out little one!!

thank you ladies- it would be SOOO nice if she decided to come this weekend since then I wouldn't have to do the 24hr urine collection (because I have to bring it in on Monday so I am not starting until sunday morning)... but I have a feeling that I'll still be here on Monday (which is actually my due date).

Just *really* want a natural labor and pitocin, I have heard, sucks.

I hope you are off going into labor now! My first was induced due to BP issues, with pitocin, and it was fine. He really just needed a kick-start, and after 2 hours, they turned the pitocin off. He was born about 6 1/2 hours after we started the induction. I labored without drugs, moved around, etc., and it felt like a "natural" labor and birth, just with a kick-start. I know there are lots of induction horror stories, so I thought I'd chime in and say that it's not always terrible

I hope everything works out well - come on out baby!

Good luck today. With my first, there was protein in my urine. She ended up being 2 weeks late so I was never induced. We were both healthy! I'm crossing my fingers for you!

Update- they checked my urine and it looks very normal. WOOHOO! I am still facing an induction if I don't make it to next Tuesday (8 days away), BUT... I think I might be in early labor right now! My contractions are 5 min apart and kind of painful. Thinking of calling hubby home from work

While I know I am having contractions I feel like... what if I'm not REALLY in labor. I'm supposed to be pregnant forever- remember? LOL

When you're in labor... you'll know!! It's normal to have some stretches of frequent contractions, sounds like your body is gearing up for the big day! Get as much rest as you can!!!
