Looking for some advice

I am not sure if this falls under EC or potty learning but I'll start here.

We did not EC our son, probably should have but honestly we felt too lazy. : We started with cloth, switched to disposables at 1 month, switched back to cloth at 18 months and he is 20 months old now.

Whenever we take off his diaper to give him some diaper-free air time he almost immediately pees all over the floor, couch, chair, DVD player ....

Problem is, if we try to get him to sit on the potty he flips out, won't sit, won't pee.

I feel like he is ready to start learning about the potty especially since he can hold amazing amounts of pee but I can't figure out how to get him to sit and pee.

Any ideas or advice?

Have you tried keeping the diaper on him and just letting him sit on it whenever he feels like it just to get used to the idea of sitting? Maybe he can play with some toys on it or pretend he sitting in a car and driving?
After he's comfortable with it try without the diaper.
Also, if he pees on the floor, get him involved with the cleaning. He can help wipe it up, while you remind him that pee pee goes in the potty, not the floor.
Hope this helps!

I think a lot of us are at this stage right now. Its like we are halfway between EC and potty training, but the EC is hard for us later-starters or part timers because now they are at the age where they can be very stubborn about holding it in (see my thread below, same problem).

I'm weary about forcing her to sit on the potty, so i agree with the PP about involving him in the clean up. With us, she wouldnt sit on the potty and pee at first, but as time goes on, she is sitting for longer and longer.
