Food for birth

Ok, so I know this has been talked about thousands of times, but here is the thing. I don't plan on having anyone at the HB except me, my husband, the midwife, & my kids. So how do I prepare somthing for the midwife myself & family when I'm in labor? My dh does not cook & I want him with me. Last time it wasn't a problem. Babe came in the middle of the night & was only a 4 hr birth. Midwife was only there 45 min before & maybe 2 hrs after. So all we had was some fruit. I went to sleep with babe & she left. The next morning my husband made me eggs (the only thing he can cook). So I was thinking something I can make ahead of time that I could just throw in th ecrock pot to be done quickly or in the oven. Maybe a frozen thing. But what is really good & good for you from the freezer. Any suggestions on what I might do would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all!!

How about making a big pot of soup and then putting it in plastic containers in the freezer? Or a pan of lasagne? Or chili? There's lots of stuff that you can prepare ahead of time and freeze, then take it out and microwave or reheat in the oven later. Depending on where you live and what's available, there's always take-out. Maybe ask the midwife what she prefers?

when i had my daughter, i had corn chowder frozen in containers so all i had to do was heat it up on the stove. i also had some parbaked french bread loaves in the freezer that only needed 6 minutes in the oven.

right now i'm planning a grocery list for DH so that i can cook up some meals in advance (i'm due in about 4 days). I'm doing corn chowder, chili con carne and a lasagne all of which will go into the freezer.
