Bead Swap

Did anyone use their beads during labor? Anyone still planning on it? I made mine into one circle on the same embroidery thread we used to make the cord-tie and friendship bracelets for our family. I thought it might be nice to look at the beads to remember the connection to other laboring mamas and other mamas of brand new babes.

I'd love to hear where your beads ended up...

I had grand plans for my beads but having pg brain ruined them! I was going to make a fringe bracelet with them on some pretty sterling rollo chain but thought I did not have enough head pins to wrap them and it would have taken too long to order them. It wasn't until after the birth that I realized I had 100 of them sitting in an envelope right next to my puter!

I ended up scattering them around candles my children picked out for the birth. I put them on a pretty silver tray I got for Christmas. I thought of it as kind of a birth altar. Here is a pic:

I have mine strung on a necklace along with beads that my friends brought to my blessingway. It's really beautiful, and I hope I don't forget to put it on whenever I FINALLY go into labor. I'm already 9 days past my EDD.

i made mine into a necklace that i wore the whole time. it was great. when i was really in pain dh would keep reminding me of them and of all of you thinking of me

I made mine into a necklace, I took it to the birth center with me but things happened so quickly that I didn't get a chance to pull it out of the bag. I restrung it the day before labor began and I think looking at and stringing each bead helped my labor to begin (I was 2 days past my due date). It turned out beautifull and was a mixture of beads from the swap here and my blessingway.
