How are our VBACing mama's doing?

I just wanted to check in and say : to others, beside myself planning to VBAC.
Thing's are going okay here, my OB seems supportive and has said that up until 42 weeks will be fine.......who knows beyond then. They will not induce me. I'm 39 weeks now and feeling strong. I have a great doula lined up too.
Someone just needs to give the baby a nudge and remind him he has to come on out!
How are the rest of the VBACer's doing?

Just fine right now, waiting for baby to say it's time whenever he's ready. Hoping for sooner rather than later just like the rest of us that are "due", just trying to wait patiently and finish the last preparations. My instinct says that I have a couple more weeks left before it's time. This is tough.

I did have an internal exam last week because midwife and I were having trouble pinpointing baby's position and the heartbeat was heard in a really funky place so I agreed to an internal to see if baby was really head down as it is hard to tell b/c his head is very far back toward my back. Baby is very high still. I'm soft, about 20% effaced and not dilated any. I was cool with that, to know my body is preparing itself, and felt it was a good use of a VE. I had vowed not to allow any routine VE's prior to labor so this was definitely a compromise. I feel better with the information I rec'd from the VE.

I'm good...just trying to get the preparations done for this baby to join us. Today, I have been organizing our clothes and gathering my birth stuff (towels, washcloths, receiving blankets, baby gowns, diapers, fresh bed linens, ect.) all into one place. Also, hubby has been helping to declutter our room. I think I will go clean the tub (and bleach the jets in the jacuzzi)

I want to offer s and lots of support to all of us VBAC moms. This is my third time VBACing and I'm still a little anxious.

Almost 36 weeks, baby still breech as far as I can tell, still planning on HBA2C...call me crazy. I'm not without concerns about it, but after much thinking and reading that's where I'm at. Trying to deal with my fears...listening to my hypnobabies...will have home visit a week from today. Hard to believe it's almost time already, though it feels like time is slowing down. With the breech situation I am hoping for an earlier birth than I might have otherwise, visualizing/rooting for somewhere between the 5th and the 12th. But we'll see what happens.
Best wishes to all of you, too!

I can't believe I didn't see this!!!

Hi there, I am new to this part of the mothering site. I can't believe I didn't see it before. I am planning to VBAC, my baby is technically not due until March 30th, however I went into premature labor at 33 weeks and now I am 35 and 1/2 weeks and my doctor said anytime is fine, she doesn't really want me to go much past 37 or 38 weeks because my baby already weighs almost 7 pounds and I birth them big, not that she doesn't think I have the ability to birth a large baby. I am dilated to 3 and 60% efaced so I am on my way, I am very confident my dd will be here soon!! Probably within another week or two. I am so glad to hear there are other Mommy's out there getting ready to VBAC, good luck to you all, but I am sure you won't need it, you are women and our bodies know what to do!!

I'm planning a VBAC. I'm 36 weeks, having LOTS of mild contractions and cramping (but not regular enough to do too much yet). We had some PTL concerns at my last appointment and my midwife did an internal exam. I'm 1 cm dialated and 90% effaced. Baby is VERY low. (I can barely walk for the pain some days). I just hope baby stays put for 2 more weeks!

My midwife is very supportive, and I'm seeing an OB occassionally in case I do end up with a c-section (the clinic requires this). But, the OB is very "VBAC friendly" as they say, so I'm hopeful. I'm just a little concerned about my ability to have this baby "au natural" as I'd like, given that I'll be confined to a monitor, unable to get in the water, etc. I'm practicing my hypnobirthing like crazy, and trying to be positive and strong!! (Now, if I could only get DH to be positive and strong along with me . . . but that is another story!)

Planning a vba2c here -- at an awesome birthcenter. I'm 39 weeks today & have had prodomal labor since Wednesday... I wish he would just decide to come now or chill out for a bit, lol.

Not so good. I'm already overdue (in March DDC due to miscalculation!). Baby has not dropped, cervix is high, tight and closed. I'm not responding to acupuncture, massage, sex, spicy food, walking, bouncing, EPO. Nothing. This same thing happened with Number 1. At 2.5 weeks overdue, I did an unsuccessful induction for 3 days and ended in an emergency c-section.

I am completely bummed. Baby's head isn't in the pelvis so of course, cervix isn't doing anything.

s Cynthia... fwiw I know a couple women who went 3+ weeks "overdue" then had successful & normal births...maybe that's what your body does too?

Good luck to all of you brave women!!

I am at 39 wks too and planning an hbac. I am really excited and nervous and a little scared, but I believe my body knows what to do.

I'm 36 wks and doing good. I had a VE last week and I was 4cm's and 80-90% effaced. I'm just hoping I can go into labor on my own.....and kind of nervous to do so. But I am confident I CAN do this! Just waiting on "the day"!

38 weeks here and had an OMG we're having a baby revelation over the weekend so we're buzzing around here finally starting to make food for afterwards and getting the last stuff done in the house We've been fighting this nasty prolonged cold and hoping that we can get that cleared up before going into labor. I went a week over with my son and hoping that we just end up going before 42. We have an awesome midwife and I just have to get the house a little less messy Good luck to all!

Just a tad over 37 weeks here and things are good! I am having contractions off and on, nothing really happening. Baby is LOA and head is down into pelvis. I am having a hospital vbac with doula and mw and I can labor in the birthing tub so long as i get out for pushing. (hospital policy). they have a telemetry monitoring system so I will have free movement. I feel good about our support and can't wait to meet the little guy..

I went to my OB appointment today I am 39 weeks, and I was left feeling nervous. There was a HUGE emphasis on the fact that I am TRYING to VBAC, after exam I am still 1cm dilated but a little more effaced (I've had contractions all week now) and then the baby is still "very high". I am nervous that I might not have a good pelvis to birth babies. I am nervous about going beyond 40 weeks.
I wish I hadn't gone to the appointment.
My next one in is nine days - I might not go. They make me nervous......

WM, sounds like you have an OB who is pulling a classic "bait & switch"... telling you all along that you can VBAC no problem, but now starting with all the reasons why you can't/shouldn't.

Remember that you CAN do this, you do NOT need to rush it if you do hit 40 weeks, your body will dialate & efface when it's ready! With both of my prior c/s' I firmly believe that if I had not been interfered with both baby & my body would have worked things out.

Any of the things you wrote about -- baby being very high, etc. could change in an instant. Look at some of the other mamas in our DDC who lost their mucus plug days & days ago -- still no baby yet. Those things *can* be an indicator -- it doesn't mean they are.

s I hope I didn't come off crazy ranty... I just don't want anyone to make you doubt yourself -- you can do this!

Doing great! I tested GBS **negative** this time (soooo excited!!!). I have a great midwifery group associated with an alternative birthing center (only midwives can use those rooms) in a great hospital that actually *encourages* waterbirths! Getting lots of positivity from them - no "TOLAC" crap. No internals or pressure for them. The backup OB seems to be one of the few gems out there who believes honestly in VBACing (eg cites a 0.7% UR risk not the other crap some providers spew). I have a great doula with some VBAC experience, and we found a great hotel suite for me to labor in until we go to hospital (we live an hour from the hospital). Feeling great!

I'm at 36 weeks now and have pretty much everything in place for the birth at home, HBAC. My dh and I just went to the movies and I could barely walk the half block from the car and then back, and had my first contraction while sitting, normally I just get them when I walk. I never had this with dd1, so this is all new to me. We left the movie early, it was just a bit too intense for me emotionally, I'm only rated for Dumbo or Bambi these days

When I prepared for dd1's birth I was all into the Hypnobirthing, listened to it every day, but now I just don't have time for a 30 min uninterrupted session, so I'm just gonna have to wing this birth following my intuition and the guidance of my mw's.
I seem to have a lot of contractions in the evenings and they usually go away when I relax and sit down.

This will be my second VBAC and I am so ready to get the show on the road LOL...seriously!! I am 39 weeks and 3 days today and I am seriously tired of being pregnant. Of course I have gone late 2 out of 2 times so I am trying to remind myself to be patient but I am not listening really well LMAO!!

Have a MWs appt tomorrow...sigh

Ha, ha,
I had a funny VBAC dream that my doctor looked into my eyes and said I couldn't have a VBAC as my eyes were crooked! What the hell does that mean! It made me laugh this morning though!
