Clothing choices (full body suits)

So I have been gifted with well over two dozen of these full body shirt-pant combos, with the snaps up the front and on the inside of the legs. I haven't really tried them since we started EC'ing because , while the legs unsnap for easy access, it seems like the legs will just dangle into the potty (we're at 3mos, still holding dd). And with no diaper, it seems like the snaps would be a bit cold. And a full body change is needed if she does pee on them.

Anyone have any experience using/modifying this kind of get up? Some of them are kinda cute, but I won't be heartbroken if we never use them. (Right now dd has more clothes than me and dh combined...)

Dd wears these all the time (right now even!). We keep a coverless cd on her, and babylegs (b/c when we hold her over the sink our hands are cold on her legs!) We tuck her feet in the attached footy part, and leave the snaps undone. If we miss a pee, we can feel it before her outfit gets wet.
I just gather up the dangling legs during a pottytunity. It works for us...I think they are easier than on-again off-again pants on days babylegs aren't warm enough by themselves.

My first child was not ECed till 12 months. These suits were all he wore for the first few months, mainly while he was in sposies. There are great if you don't need frequent access to the diaper area. For ECing, they are worthless. I tossed all of them and the new ones we got as gifts for Jeff. There are way too many snaps to be useful for ECing. The access just isn't that great, especially if you have a wiggly one. I tried doing only some of the snaps, for more discreet pottying, but I didn't find that much easier.

I specifically asked NOT to get any outfits that snap or have legs for my baby shower. I still ended up with a few. I haven't used them yet... There is a baby clothing store nearby me that will buy your unwanted items or give you store credit. I might do that with them, I don't want to throw them away but I think they'd hinder ECing for me. The snaps would keep me from being able to pee him spontaneously. Maybe you could sell yours too? And buy some babylegs or sleep gowns or Tee's that don't have all the "hardware" to get through.

I did make one into a tee-shirt by cutting the snaps off. It works alright. There is always that route.

I tried to use those, but just like you said, they kept falling into the pot with the pee. I cut off the bottoms of all her onesies and I use the snap-up-the-legs things as a layer when she's getting all bundled up and we will be in a car so she has a diaper since we can't access her anyway. I am sure to take pictures at those moments to send to the people who gave me the stuff. :-)

I had a few as gifts and cut the legs off to make 'longline' longsleeve jackets! They make a useful layer under knits as they are oftem a bit closer fitting than t-shirts.

I cut them to just above the first middle leg opening popper so that there was some fabric below the last popper of the new 'shirt'.

You could experiment with a few then gift the rest to another new mummy who will be over the moon to receive such useful items

Maybe I'm the only one that dresses DS this way and is still successful ECing! But I have no problem with them, just give a strong tug or two and those snaps all fly open, and then I just tuck the legs behind him, against my body. More of a pain to do up again, but I'm used to it. Maybe DS is just good at waiting for all the layers to come off though! Now the onesies I'm getting sick of, and normally snap one snap together on the side of his body (so one "leg" is around his waist, and the other is just off to the side, so its more of a t-shirt that way.) Its the lazy, "no sew" solution.

We put one on last night and I managed to keep the legs out of the potty! I've been doing the snap the onesie on the side, but it keeps riding up, as does the shirt over it.

Thanks for all the suggestions - given the number of babies showing up lately I'm sure I can find a home for most of them, and try altering the ones I like. She's so long and skinny most of them would be better as long shirts...
