I am excited to announce the birth of my son, Brittan Everett who made his appearance February 18th at 2:14 pm at 8lbs 15 oz and 23 1/4' long.
I'm still processing the whole birth experience as we had to transport to the hospital after almost 12 hours of labour at home with midwives.
Brittan was high, asynclitic and posterior. I was 9 cm dilated when my water broke (it bulged right out- and thought I was delivering him right then!) and on the next vag check we discovered because of position, that my cervix had gone back to 7cm.
I ended up with an epidural at the hospital and managed to have a vag delivery with no tears, episiotomy or instrumental delivery, about 3 hours after being there. I owe it all to my team of wonderful midwives and doulas because I would have been a candidate for section / instrumental delivery had I been under the care of the OB's.
Anyways, All is well, he is nursing like a champ and has already put on 9 oz in the span of 1 week. He was weighed by the midwives yesterday and is 9 lbs 8 oz.
So much for the second baby being an easier delivery!!!
