Best serger for diapers, trainers and pants

I wanted to get a serger-mostly for thick training pants. I will probably use a lot of PUL and MM fleece. I also want to use it for baby pants and maybe a diaper or two. Eventually I may want to sell the stuff.

I can only spend up to $350.

I have an old Kenmore sewing machine-maybe 10 years old? It has a bunch of stitch types, but badly needs repair.

Ok, so that's my situation. Any suggestions as to brands? I'm pretty new to all of this, so I don't know exactly what to look for...

TIA!

I have a Brother 1034D, I've had it about three years and made everything from diapers to clothes and sewn on pul (a little slippery) fleece (easy) knits and wovens. I actually have more trouble with thin fabrics because I'm so used to doing thick ones They are pretty cheap, that might give you some more money to get your sewing machine fixed/serviced. HTH!

curious about this as well! I'm looking to buy a serger also.

I know Janome has one that our local dealer sells the 204D model for $299 and Sears has a Kenmore one I saw today. We've looked at Bernina & Husqvarna Viking also.

Thank...funny I was looking at the very Brother model! And I've heard great things about Janome-need to look further into them too.

This is so weird! I posted a reply earlier today but now it's gone!
Anyway, I was suggesting getting a used industrial serger on ebay. I have one, it has differential feed and it is rock solid. It will serge four layers of hemp FT or fleece. I'd recommend a four thread one as it is nice for stitching diapers and for seaming clothing. The only drawback for my serger is that the manual is translated from Chinese to English and is kind of hard to understand.
If you are going for a home model, Kenmore is made by a well-known brand (Janome, I think) and lots of people like them.
I would also repair your regular machine since I find you can't make all your stuff with just a serger. You will need it to apply elastic, sew hems and topstitching, etc.

I tried out several brands before I got my Husqvarna and felt/feel it is well worth the extra money. See if they have any older models on sale.
