Join the LeLeche Group and they will send you one for free.

Membership for a year - $50 I believe.

WIC's LC is free.

$100/hr if we went to her.

$215 if she came to us, regardless of how long it took.

The one at the local hosp is free if you deliver there.

I second LLL and the membership.

$30/hr for a group session in Chicago, $50-80/hr private
LLL is free, $40 membership not required to use their services.

50-75 dollars an hour. Our hospital used to provide them for free, not sure if they still do or not.

$60/hr here. I prefer to hire one so I know exactly who I'm working with all the time rather than the free one at the hospital. I've heard that around here, they are not all on the same page and have very different ways of dealing with women. We also have some very specific and unique breastfeeding challenges. Each time I go to a new LC, the first hour is wasted with them saying we need a better latch until moving on to the other, real problems. Better to stick with one, IMO.

We went to one when ds was 1 week old at a hospital that I didn't deliver in. We needed a referral from ds's ped to go there but that allowed them to bill our insurance and we didn't pay anything but they charged 75/hr.

Many hospitals have free ones, I would check around to see who had the best free ones. For example, where I live one is great, the other not.
BF rate at hosptial #1 = 90% when going home
BF rate at hospital #2 = 20% when going home

I am sure the length of time they continued would be signfigant as well.

We had on going issues with my Dd and the LC came to our house 3 times at $75 an hour. Then we rented a pump for a month ($70) and has needed pump sluppies ($45). But she is still nursing at age 2 so it was all worth it!

the one I saw was free, was at the place I gave birth

They're funded by the government where I live.

I had DD in a hospital so ours was free.

Just remember even though they are pricey, they are nowhere near as expensive as formula!

We had access to the one at both hospitals where DDs were born for free even after we were home. Also, our pediatricians office gave us the number for one associated with them that didn't charge either.
