How much a like were all the pregancies?

DId you expereince MS the saw with them all, feel the same ... etc?

Also did you have the same "issues" (poor weight gain, heartburn, blood bressure problems, water retinion...etc) with all of them?

Or is there no ryhm or reason to it?

This is #5 and all of my pregnancies have been similar. However, my last two have been the most uncomfortable with PSD and sciatic pain. My level of nausea/sickness was pretty similar with all of them, I have never had high blood pressure, I did swell a little with #3 and #4 but I attribute that to summer in Houston, I think the heartburn has been about the same across the board. With each pregnancy I gained 20-28 pounds.
I think #1 and #3 were the easiest but that is because I was in better physical condition when I started those pregnancies - ideal weight, lots of exercise etc.

BTW - I have 2 boys and 2 girls so I don't buy any of the theories that boys do this to you and you carry girls this way etc.

With no.1 I had terrible morning sickness. It wouldn't go away until about 18 weeks. With no.2 and 3 I didn't have such bad morning sickness. This time it is quite bad. I've never really had problems with heartburn or blood pressure etc. I have been having pelvis problems that have gotten worse with each pregnancy. Last time I could hardly walk at all for the last few weeks, and couldn't climb into bed. I think the problem was my ds was just so big (11lbs 6oz) I don't think my body is designed to carry that much extra weight!

I'm on my third pregnancy right now.

#1 was twins, and I do feel like it wiped me out a lot more than #2 and #3. I had terrible m/s, and I lost about 20lbs in the first tri. I also had pretty bad heartburn. I used to joke that drinking water gave me heartburn.

With #2 pregnancy, I had no heartburn whatsoever, but I did get those lovely hemorhoids : which have NEVER GONE AWAY. Grr! It was a fairly "typical" pregnancy: a little m/s in the first tri, extra tired, and then it was fine after the first tri.

#3 so far is the nicest. (But I'm only 8w in!) A tiny bit of nausea, a few food aversions, a little tiredness -- but compared to the other two, I feel great!

For me they are all different. My first was almost 27 years ago and I have a hard time remembering the details. This is my last pregnancy now and it has been the most difficult. I think that is due to my age though.

#1 - ms from 8 - 16 weeks. Felt good the rest of the time. Had water retention at end.
#2 - ms for 1 day! Felt great until end. Didn't exercise as much & that definitely had an impact. Had water retention and a little high blood pressure at end.
#3 - I'm 18 weeks now & had a lot of ms. Feel better. I think I've mostly felt the same during each pregnancy except for not having ms the 2nd time.

I've had two and the pregnancies couldn't have been more different.

My first, I had hideous m/s until 17 weeks, puking 10 times a day, losing weight, etc... I had heartburn something fierce, pre-term labor, consistent contractions from 31 weeks forward. I was showing by 10 weeks. On bedrest for 5 weeks, gained around 25 lbs (not bad considering baby was 10.5), had really bad swelling, and generally felt like I wanted to die. The birth ended equally as miserably.

With number two. Life was grand. I only felt nauseated a couple of times, threw up once maybe? No heartburn, couldn't tell I was pg until 22weeks. Gained 16lbs, no swelling, no PTL or bedrest. Felt great. Birth ended wonderfully.

Boy kids were boys, both born in the same time of year. Funny thing... DS1 is a very difficult child. DS2 is the most mild-mannered, sensitive kid ever.

mine were COMPLETELY different. the first just rarely moved, he was fine! just not real active. and I gained 65 lbs with him, no other probs.

this one moved almost constantly since I could feel him and I only gained 30 lbs..no other probs. of course nearly 13 years in between them, and I am a vegetarian now (all I ate with the first were cheeseburgers I think. I was very young and stupid.) oh I had more nausea because it's heat related for me...this was I was preg all last summer, ugh.

I am on baby #4 and each one was different in their own way. I tend to carry my boys high and have "morning" sickness with them longer. Actually, sick the whole pregnancy. With my girls, I carry lower and I'm not sick at all really. I still lose weight with each of my pregnancies though. I had unexplained bleeding with my third but none of the rest and also horrible heartburn!

Also this baby seems WAY more calmer then any of my other's.. He doesn't move much at all but gives me a nudge or two to remind me he is there!

I never had morning sickness.

I ate all I wanted.

I gained 37 lbs with each pregnancy.

I delivered alittle early with three pregnancies (3days, 13 days, 3 days) and one pregnancy I delivered one day late.

I had the same aches and pains with each pregnancy. I had horrible sciatic pain with #2 since I pulled a muscle (psoas and piriformas) and I had a bad cold with #2 also.

I also had a problem with a bloody nose with #4.

Amazingly, since I was EXTREMELY careful about constipation and circulation, my varicose veins did NOT get worse with pregnancy. I wore surgical support hose during each pregnancy, elevated my legs, walked, bicycled, and swan.

I had varicose veins when I was 14 years old. I had danced, swam, jogged and still had them early. My grandmother and mother had terrible varicose veins and I got them through heredity, but I was able to control how bad they became.

I've only had 2 full term pg and they were totally different.

#1 had severe ms first 4 months, lost alot of weight, was ok month 5, month 6 was put on bedrest, gained lots of weight (60lbs eek!) was on bedrest till i had emergency c/s due to lotsa bleeding. baby turned out healthy and beautiful

#2 was 13yrs later, had GD controlled by diet, no big deal, no bedrest, had a beautiful VBAC and another beautiful baby girl

Both of my pregnancies were pretty much the same in retrospect. When pg with DS2, I thought the ms was worse, but I now think it was pretty similar. There were a few minor symptoms that were unique to each, but nothing significant. My Dss are 33 months apart and both pregnancies shared a similar diet, exercise, weight gain, etc. My births were both short and similar in intensity, though the first gave me back labor. My first pg went about a week longer (adjusted for newer knowledge) than the second.

All of my pregnancies were the same physically - little sickness, stayed very active, big weight gain in spite of a really healthy diet, etc.

My third pregnancy was so much easier emotionally. I just felt I was not on the huge rollercoaster and my emotions were so much more even. I don't know if that was because I was carrying a girl or not....hmmm, never thought too much about this until now.

Some things are the same and others its totally different. My ms seems to get worse with each one. I always get to about the same weight no matter where I start out. I always have swelling in my hands.

With #1 it was a pretty typical pg, nothing out of the ordinary.

With #2 I had the worst swelling ever. I was like a big water balloon.

With #3 I had terrible joint pain. To the point where my fingers would get stuck at night folded down to the hand and I would have to have dh straighten then out for me.

With #4 I had terrible SPD.

With #5 I felt fantastic, by far my best pg. Not even sciatica.

With #6 I hurt everywhere. Just touching my belly hurt.

This time I have hot flashes which has been fun . I sweat really bad all of a sudden and at night with the night sweats. And this one I had alot of bleeding cause of SCB.

First pg, twin girls, nausea/dry heaving that lasted 18 weeks, though it wasn't nearly as bad as it likely would have been due to the fact that I wasn't working and had no other children. I laid on the couch. A lot.

Horrible heartburn from implantation til delivery. Horrible round ligament pain from about 16-20 weeks. Horrible belly itching for the last 10 days or so. Pre-eclampsia at the very end, symptoms starting at 37 weeks.

Delivered at 38w3d by scheduled section.

Second pg, singleton boy, some nausea, very tired. Twins were 4 months old when I got pg, so I was tired to begin with. Heartburn similar to twin pg, though I took much better meds to control it since they were concerned about long term damage with back to back pg and such severe reflux.

Absolutely no ligament pain whatsoever, though I was obviously still stretched out from previous twin pg. No pre-e.

Membranes ruptured at 38w, ERCS.

Third pg, singleton girl, put the other two to shame. HORRIBLE nausea/dry heaving with a break between 26-29 weeks. Otherwise, I thought I was surely going to die.

Ligament pain from 14-24 weeks, much worse than with twin pg even. Heartburn not *quite* as bad, but again, I took pretty good meds to reduce risk of long term damage.

Pre-e much worse with this pg with symptoms beginning at 35 weeks. Delivered at 37w1d by ERCS due to escalating pre-e.

I've had 3, planning on about 3 more. I would say mine have all been very different while all remaining well within the limits of normal and healthy.

#1 was the easiest so far. I didn't really feel pregnant, never waddled or had that pregnant lady duck walk, could easily do yoga all the way through, no ms, sciatica, tiredness (sigh).

#2 I was SO TIRED. I think I slept that entire pregnancy. More pain, more waddling, more weight, but the nice thing about this pregnancy was as soon as I gave birth, I was AWAKE with no pain and the weight melted off. I weighed less 3 months pp than I did on my wedding day. =)

#3- maybe just the effects of getting older? Not nearly as tired as during #2, but a bit of ms, a bit tired and then lots of back/hip/leg pain. Couldn't roll over without crying, and my yoga practice went to pot in the last month. Baby is approaching 1 year and I"m still hoping the last ten pounds will GO AWAY. =)

Mine have been quite different.

#1-serious, severe morning sickness, probably due to also having malaria and giardia. Lost 35 lb. Then we moved to the States and I gained it all back plus some, had horrible heartburn, and polyhydramnios. Went to 39 weeks and 4 days. 6 lb 14 oz

#2-morning sickness was bad, but not as bad as the last time, lost 20 lb, gained it all back and then some. Heartburn wasn't as bad, and no amniotic fluid issues. That time I had severe carpal tunnel syndrome. 42 weeks and 3? days. 9 lb 15 oz

#3-hardly any morning sickness, no weight loss but much slower weight gain this time. Heartburn is starting but not as bad. Very mild carpal tunnel syndrome. Baby isn't born yet.
