Some of their processed foods are organic. They have blue corn tortilla chips that are organic and I've seen Organic soy milk. I'm sure there is other stuff too. There may be info on their web site.

Our store does not have a lot of organic foods. They have about a 50-50 mix of heavily processed and not heavily processed foods. If you read labels closely and stick to nearly whole food items(which I do anyway) there are a lot of good things there. Cheese, eggs, milk, beans, frozen fruit and veggies etc are all staples that are consistently lower in price without me having to go to 3 different stores. Plus on the junky things I do buy they are always cheaper than the store brand at a conventional grocery store.

I've read somwhere that while some things are staples that every Aldi carries (milk, eggs, cheese), other things are based on what the best sellers for that location are.

For instance, my Aldi's carries corn tortillas, pinto beans in 2 lb bags, tortilla mix, and dried ancho chiles. I've heard that other locations don't sell those things.

We do the bulk of our shopping at Aldi's, then we get our fruits and veggies at a very cheap no-frills grocery store and we supplement with maybe $15 worth of stuff from the whole foods co-op every 2 weeks.

I like it at Aldi's, it's the main reason I can feed my family of 3 for under $175/mo. But, you really have to read labels because there are some heavily processed foods there. Not alot of organic, either.

I love Aldi

But it is not a place I find a lot of organics. If you are really looking to buy mostly organic stuff then I would think it is probably not worth it for you. but if you are willing to buy non organic, the savings can be really great. I shop there 2-3 times a month and we get a LOT from there. I tend to stick to the less processed items, and find we can get LOTS of staples there. I get corn tortillas, beans, canned veggies, vinegar, Coffee, eggs, milk, cottage cheese, cheese, sour cream, apples, baby carrots, regualr carrots, cabbage, bananas, whole wheat bread, frozen fruit, ground turkey, frozen veggies- lots of good things for stir fry.... but I still find I need to go to a large grocery store 2 times a month or so to fill out those things that I can't find at Aldi and I usually place a co op order once a month, or every other month too.

I'm not a fan but occasionally I will go there for produce although their selection is very limited (no organigs) but their prices is pretty good.

thank you all your feedback. i'll give ALDI a try tomorrow. i've got $80 and two weeks of meals to prepare for a family of 4 ...so organic is not any kind of priority for me at this point. i'm just looking for the most bang for my buck at this point ) thanks again!!!!

Aldi and Trader Joes is owned by the same company. If you can't find your organic foods at Aldi try Trader Joes!!!

We like Aldi for staples and a few organic items...good luck!

Two things that they both have are molten chocolate cakes (TJ all the time; Aldi's sometimes) that are microwaveable and frozen french green beans--haricot verts. Neither are organic, but they are very tasty.

Then you need to check out this site:
thehillbillyhousewife.com

She tells you EXACTLY how to feed a family of four for a week with $41. And she assumes you have nothing on hand. Check it out.

Wow...I'm totally going to check out the Hillbilly sight. Tomorrow is grocery day and we spend $200 a wk on groceries here. Our town has highjacked prices.....and I'm not so good at figuring out how to cook or budget meals well.
Thanks for the link.

We don't do organic here because we simply can't afford it. We do stay away from sugar and white bread, etc. At Aldi's I get:

Canned good (corn, kidney beans, light fruit, etc)
Fruit. They have GREAT prices on fruit!!!
Cheese sticks, cheese and milk.
Meat. They have ground turkey that is inexpensive and lower fat ground beef as well.

I usually go every other week and stock up then go to the regular grocery store once a week as well.
